Abstract: A method for removing ammonia from a condensate, the method comprising the steps of introducing a flue gas to a direct contact cooler, the flue gas comprising a gas selected from the group consisting of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen, water vapor, ammonia, and combinations of the same; contacting the flue gas with a water feed in the direct contact cooler to produce a cooled flue gas and the condensate; introducing the condensate to an ammonia stripper; contacting the condensate with an air feed to produce an air product and a wastewater; introducing a carbonic acid feed to the treatment unit, the treatment unit configured to modify the pH of the wastewater; and mixing the wastewater with the carbonic acid feed in the treatment unit to produce a treated water.
