  • Patent number: 10798748
Abstract: The user equipment includes a processor configured to receive a broadcast message, the broadcast message including RACH parameters. The processor transmits a first message following receipt of the broadcast message. The processor receives a second message. The processor transmits a third message, the third message including power settings based on a successful transmission of the first message, and receives a fourth message, the fourth message including contention resolution information that adjusts the RACH parameters. The user equipment decodes RACH parameters and the contention information to obtain decoded RACH parameters, and adjusts an initial transmit power of the user equipment to be a first transmit power based on the decoded RACH parameters.

  • Patent number: 9913295
Abstract: Detecting physical random access channel (RACH) preambles is accomplished by computing a correlation power profile based on received RACH preambles, where the correlation power profile values may be sorted. A weight factor is computed for each of the correlation power profile values based on a normalized RACH detection threshold. Outlier peaks of the correlation power profile values are selected based on the weight factor. The outlier peaks to the first set of RACH signatures are mapped in order to identify a user equipment (UE) that is associated with one of the received RACH preambles. Network traffic is then controlled for network communications associated with the identified UE.

  • Patent number: 6801791
Abstract: A cellular communications system includes a base station and at least one mobile station communicating therewith. The base station may include a plurality of antennas and a modulator for providing a transmit signal for each antenna. The modulator may estimate a weighting factor for each transmit signal based upon considering each transmit signal as having an unknown and arbitrary fading factor associated therewith and based upon considering the unknown and arbitrary fading factors to have a predetermined cross-correlation function.

  • Patent number: 6542560
Abstract: The method of channel estimation determines linear regression coefficients for N blocks of a first signal component in a received signal on a block-by-block basis, and determines a channel estimate based on the linear regression coefficients for the N blocks. Using the channel estimate, channel distortion in a second signal component of the received signal can be significantly eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6232921
Abstract: A method and system for adaptive signal processing for an antenna array reduces the requisite computations for executing an adaptive algorithm that combines or digitally filters baseband receive signals. The system receives uplink electromagnetic signals from a phased array and uplink electromagnetic signals from a diversity array during the reception of a desired electromagnetic signal transmitted by a desired mobile station. The uplink signals are converted into baseband signals for digital signal processing. The baseband signals are observable as a series of successive time slots. The system determines uplink coarse combining weights associated with the uplink baseband signals of the phased array and downlink coarse combining weights associated with the downlink baseband signals of the phased array. The baseband uplink signals are summed into as few as one resultant baseband signal during or after application of the coarse combining weights to the baseband uplink signals.
