A display unit is connected to the sensor system for displaying the opening state of the motor vehicle door. A display element is redundantly connected redundantly to the sensor system is provided for displaying the opening state of the motor vehicle door. The probability of the display system correctly indicating the opening state of the motor vehicle door is thereby increased.
