  • Publication number: 20050157514
Abstract: An illuminating device, particularly for motor vehicles, is suggested which has a housing, and a lens which form the interior space of a headlight. In addition to reflectors and lights, a component 15 is provided in the interior space of the headlight, which component 15 is arranged on the housing of the headlight and which has a heat-sensitive expansion element 16 and a valve 17, in which case the expansion element opens the valve when a defined temperature has been reached for the aerating of the interior space of the headlight. In addition, a moisture-absorbing material is arranged in the interior space of the headlight, which material absorbs the moisture in the headlight at low temperatures and thus when the valve is closed.

  • Patent number: 6505947
Abstract: A device is provided for controlling the light distribution of a headlamp installation of a motor vehicle, with a first light source for an additional lamp and a second light source for a driving lamp. In order to provide a better device for controlling(the light distribution of a headlamp installation of a vehicle, it is provided that a light source for an additional lamp be mounted so that it can swivel. In this process, the light source for an additional lamp will illuminate part of the vehicle's own lane lying outside the edge of the roadway, while, in its second position, it illuminates the vehicle's own lane, preferably at a greater distance. The light source for the additional lamp is mounted in such a way that it has, at least, one common light passage area with, at least, one other light source.

  • Patent number: 5893638
Abstract: This invention relates to a side lamp for vehicles which have an opening in their shell. In order to provide a side lamp which can be used as a turn signal side lamp and as a side marking lamp, it is suggested to construct the side lamp as part of an edge of an opening, preferably a wheel opening, on the shell of the vehicle. It is also contemplated to provide a reflector as a component of the side lamp which can be designed as part of a cover plate of the side lamp.

  • Patent number: 5105691
Abstract: An under-the-floor lathe for re-machining the wheels in railroad-vehicle wheel sets. It has two assemblies for each wheel in the set. Each assembly comprises an upright, a swiveling head, an axle-bearing support, a hold-down, two friction rollers that can be positioned against one of the wheels, and a friction-roller holder. At least one of the friction rollers in each holder is powered. Each holder rotates around an axis that travels along the mid-plane of the lathe. The object is to accelerate the machining action without using brakes that engage the friction-roller holders. Two pressure-application devices that generate opposite torques in relation to their associated pivoting axis are attached to each friction-roller holder.

  • Patent number: 4951534
Abstract: A below-floor lathe for reprofiling the rims of railroad-vehicle wheel sets, with four driven friction rollers, two rotating supports, and controls. The friction rollers can be forced in pairs against the outer surface of each rim in a wheel set. A detector determines the level of slippage that occurs between a friction roller and a rim surface and varies the rate at which the rotating supports advance in accordance with the level of slippage detected.

  • Patent number: 4726267
Abstract: A tailstock sleeve guide for lathes comprising two axially spaced guide sleeves which guide the tailstock sleeve and are inserted into a bore of a housing. Adjustment of the radial guide clearance of the tailstock sleeve is effected by axially compressing the guide sleeves. Between the two guide sleeves (4, 5) a claming means (6) act thereon to minimize the time required for the adjustment of the two guide sleeves to identical guide clearance of the tailstock sleeve.
