    Abstract: A head protection system for occupants of a motor vehicle has a multi-chamber air bag, which is inflated laterally of the head in the event of a side impact and prevents the displacement of the head. In addition, it protects the head from vehicle body parts that penetrate the occupant department. Via the individual chambers, an L-shape of the air bag can be constructed which is optimal for the desired purpose. In addition, the division into several chambers permits longer and therefore less aggressive inflation times.
