  • Patent number: 7735613
Abstract: A self-boosting electromechanical friction brake, having a friction brake lining which is displaceable for actuation in the direction of rotation of a brake disk and which is braced via roller bodies on ramps of an abutment plate. When the brake is actuated, brake disk exerts a frictional force on the brake lining pressed against it, which urges the lining in the direction of an increasingly narrow gap between the ramps and the brake disk to exert a contact pressure that is in addition to that exerted by an actuation device to attain self-boosting. The roller bodies are supported fixedly and rotatably in bearing block on the brake lining whereby the roller bodies move in slaved fashion with the brake lining and always brace the brake lining at the same points.

  • Publication number: 20100126167
Abstract: The invention relates to an electromechanical brake booster for a master brake cylinder of a hydraulic vehicle braking system. The invention provides to configure the brake booster such that it preferably includes a switchable freewheel, which enables an actuation of the master brake cylinder without any movement of the electric motor of the brake booster. The invention further provides to configure the brake booster such that it includes a mechanical gear having a variable transmission ratio, which has a high path transmission at the beginning of an actuation of the master brake cylinder, and a force transmission that rises with increasing actuation. A variable gear ratio is possible using a rack and pinion gear, the toothed rack of which has a soothing with a pitch that changes across the length of the toothed rack. A further possibility of a mechanical gear having a variable ratio is a toggle lever mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20100032249
Abstract: The invention relates to a disk brake with an electromechanical actuator which, for example, has a piezo-element, and with a hydraulic self-energizing device. In order to control the self-energizing effect, the invention provides a valve hydraulically between an auxiliary piston of the self-energizing device and a brake piston of the disk brake with which the brake piston can be hydraulically isolated from the auxiliary piston. This means that the self-energizing effect of the disk brake can be switched off. Using a modulated valve control and/or use of a proportional valve, the level of the self-energizing effect can be controlled or regulated. In order to avoid a blockage, the invention additionally provides a blockage protection valve with which the auxiliary piston or the brake piston can be connected to a hydraulic accumulator at ambient pressure.

  • Publication number: 20100002651
Abstract: A wireless telecommunications network may include parts that operate at different packet transfer delays, so that a mobile terminal undergoing handover from one node to another experiences different delays before and after handover. An additional delay is applied during the handover process to packets sent to the mobile terminal via the node at the smaller delay so as to reduce the difference between the two delays. The additional delay may be applied at an anchor node connecting parts of the wireless network of different radio access technology types or at other parts of the network. Information regarding packet transfer delays may stored and accessed to determine the delays for nodes involved in handover and/or obtained by measurements made during a call, for example.

  • Patent number: 7588128
Abstract: A self-boosting electromagnetic disk brake having an electromechanical actuating device and a mechanical self-boosting device that has a wedge mechanism. A wedge is displaceable parallel to a brake disk and relative to a friction brake lining, and the relative displaceability of the wedge is limited relative to the friction brake lining to one direction, by means of a slaving device. The wedge is decoupled from the friction brake lining in one direction of rotation of the brake disk. As a result, the self-boosting device is operative in only one direction of rotation of the brake disk; in the reverse direction of rotation of the brake disk, the disk brake is neutral in terms of self-help.

  • Publication number: 20090194385
Abstract: The invention relates to an electromechanically switchable form-locking freewheel mechanism for preventing an electromechanical brake from releasing. According to the invention, the freewheel mechanism is embodied in the form of an electric motor in which a pivot angle of the armature is limited, the armature is counterbalanced and has a locking element that cooperates with a gear. The invention permits a compactly designed freewheel mechanism that can be integrated into an electromechanical actuating unit of the electromechanical brake. The counterbalancing of the armature equipped with the locking element prevents external accelerations of the freewheel mechanism of the kind that can occur during driving operation of a motor vehicle from exerting a moment on the armature that could switch off the freewheel mechanism. A method for adjusting the clearance of an electromechanical brake is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20080283347
Abstract: The invention relates to a self-energizing electromechanical friction brake includes a self-energizing device provided with, for example, a wedge mechanism. According to the invention, the friction brake is equipped with a linear drive, for example an electromagnet, for brake actuation. The self-energizing device converts a friction force exerted by a rotating brake body on a friction brake lining during braking actuated by the linear drive of an actuation device into a second contact pressure that presses the friction brake lining against the brake body in addition to the first contact pressure exerted by the actuation device. The self-energizing device provides a non-proportional characteristic magnetic force curve of the electromagnet of the linear drive.
