  • Patent number: 5688156
Abstract: This invention concerns a sheet for producing plastic films with a tear-resistant layer and a plastic layer that is applied to the former and has a surface that faces away from the tear-resistant layer and is suitable for applying liquid or pasty plastics for the plastic film to be produced. The surface of the layer of plastic which is preferably a negative of a relief pattern consists of polypropylene. The sheet permits a high fidelity in reproduction of the relief pattern plus a long lifetime as well. The sheet may be relatively thin, so a great length can be wound up on a roll. Therefore, great lengths of a plastic film can be produced in one piece by casting or spreading liquid plastic on the sheet. Therefore, the conversion time required for the manufacturing installation is short, which has a positive effect on the price of the product.

  • Patent number: 5683815
Abstract: The invention concerns a sheet or a molding of a multi-phase thermoplastic, comprising an elastomer-modified thermoplastic, a modifier and other usual additives, whereby the elastomer-modified thermoplastic is an acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylic ester copolymer (ASA) having an acrylic ester proportion of about 25 to 80 percent by weight and the desired hardness or softness of the ASA is controlled by incorporating a modifier, whereby 1) an external plasticizer in the form of a) a monomeric or oligomeric plasticizer usual for plasticizing PVC and/or b) an amorphous or partially crystalline plasticizer having a crystallinity not greater than 25% is incorporated in the ASA copolymer to soften a hard ASA copolymer, whereby the mixing ratio (weight/weight) of hard elastomer-modified acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylic ester copolymer (ASA) to the external plasticizer is about 9:1 to 1:1, and 2) a polymer having sufficient compatibility with the ASA copolymer and an E-modulus of .gtoreq.2000 N/mm.sup.

  • Patent number: 5622760
Abstract: The invention concerns a sheeting based on polymers of propylene and ethylene, which may contain processing aids, fillers, pigments or other additives. This sheeting is characterized by the fact that it comprises a) a propylene homopolymer having a melt flow index (230.degree. C., 2.16 kg) of about 0.8 to 3.0 g/10 min, a melting point Tm of about 154.degree. to 168.degree. C. (determined by DSC) and an E-modulus of about 900 to 1500 N/mm.sup.2, and b) an ethylene homopolymer having a melt flow index (190.degree. C./2.16 kg) of about 1.5 to 3.0 g/10 min, a melting point Tm of about 110.degree. to 130.degree. C. and an E-modulus of about 200 to 400 N/mm, whereby about 5 to 20 parts by weight of the ethylene homopolymer are mixed with 100 parts by weight of the propylene homopolymer. It can be used in a self-adhesive composite to laminate any object.
