    Abstract: A bearing arrangement may be used to mount a worm shaft meshing with a worm wheel in a housing of an electromechanical power steering system. The bearing arrangement comprises a first rotary bearing, a second rotary bearing, and a pivoting ring. The first rotary bearing is configured to permit a pivoting movement of the worm shaft. The pivoting ring comprises a first pivoting ring component and a second pivoting ring component and is configured to act resiliently between the second rotary bearing and the housing. The second rotary bearing is at least partially arranged between the first pivoting ring component and the second pivoting ring component. The first pivoting ring component has two first points, with respect to which the first pivoting ring component is configured resiliently.     Abstract: An electromechanical power steering system may include an electric servomotor that has a motor shaft and drives a shaft that meshes with a helical gear. The shaft is disposed in a gearbox housing and rotatably mounted in a bearing assembly. A pretensioning installation, for adjusting engagement between the helical gear and the shaft, resiliently pretensions a movable bearing element of the bearing assembly relative to the gearbox housing. The gearbox housing has a housing portion having first and second contact faces, the normals of which do not intersect. The bearing assembly has a bearing support that forms the movable bearing element and has a lever arm having a free end that extends from a main body of the bearing support and on the gearbox housing lies against the second contact face. The main body has an eccentric cam that on the housing lies against the first contact face.

The airbag can be configured to deploy through the opening of the housing during a crash or other significant dynamic event. The airbag can be pushed out of the housing before it is fully inflated. The airbag can be stowed and include folded first and second opposing side portions such that when the airbag is deployed, the portion nearest the occupant unfurls toward the occupant prior to the other portion farthest from the occupant unfurling in a direction away from the occupant.

A controller monitors the buffer status memory and copies a portion of the buffer to the non-volatile memory in response to the buffer status memory being set to be indicative of the protected state.
