  • Patent number: 8658745
Abstract: An olefin polymerization process comprises gas-phase polymerization of at least one olefin monomer in more than one polymerization zones in one or more polymerization reactors using a high activity catalyst injected in the front end of the reactor to give solid polymer particles. According to the process of the invention, different hydrogen to olefin ratios are applied to the reactor leading to the production of very different molecular weights and therefore broadening the molecular weight distribution of the polymer produced.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 20, 2009
Date of Patent: February 25, 2014
    Assignee: INEOS USA LLC
Inventors: Ton Kroezen, William D. Stephens, Mattijs van der Ham, Dennis L. McGinn, Pierre Sere-Peyrigain, Dirk Poesen
  • Patent number: 8383740
Abstract: The invention is an improved apparatus for continuously stirring polymer particles in reactive gas-filled polymerization reactors incorporating contiguous paddle stations on a coaxial drive shaft wherein the drive shaft is driven by a hydraulic motor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 12, 2011
Date of Patent: February 26, 2013
    Assignee: Ineos USA LLC
