  • Patent number: 10229207
Abstract: A solution for managing applications in a network is proposed. A distributed application management system receives information about a first application installed on a first device in the network and determines whether a second application is required or recommended for the first device or for a second device in the network or whether a further device is required or recommended for the network based on the received information. A device management system then informs a user about a required or recommended second application or a required or recommended further device.

  • Patent number: 10103940
Abstract: A method of updating at least two interconnected devices in a local network, a local network comprising at least two interconnected devices and a method of operating a remote management client and a device in this local network are provided. A resource location information of an update archive is communicated from a remote management client in the local network to the other devices in said network. The devices participating in the update communicate participation acknowledgement messages to the remote management client. The participating devices determine whether a next one of a predefined sequence of update statuses is reached. They notify the other participating devices that this update status has been reached and pause until all other participating devices have notified that they also have reached the same update status.

  • Patent number: 10038323
Abstract: A method and a controller for power state control of a device that is connected to two or more other devices are described. Also described are a method and a controller for configuring the power state control. Power states of related devices among the two or more other devices are monitored. In case all related devices among the two or more other devices are in a low power mode, the device is switched to a low power mode. Alternatively, in case all related devices among the two or more other devices are in a low power mode, the device is switched to a normal power mode. Which of the other devices are related devices is determined in a configuration procedure.

  • Patent number: 9749883
Abstract: The application relates to a “wireless communication network including a station and an access point” which is in particular a Wi-Fi network according to the IEEE 802.11 standards. Internet service providers are searching for ways to get a better understanding of the end-user's wireless environment including link quality and performance. The proposed method calculates a performance value based on measured round trip times which are sent at different modulation rates. Based the change of performance in dependence of the modulation rate conclusions about the possible source of performance problems can be drawn, in particular it can be distinguished between (Bluetooth) interference and distance between station and access point being too large.

  • Publication number: 20160119426
Abstract: A networked data processing apparatus includes a first communication interface adapted for transmitting and receiving commands and/or status messages related to a plurality of remotely located network devices connected via the interface, and further includes a first data storage for non-volatile storage of raw data received from the remote network devices. A processing unit of the apparatus is adapted for processing raw data retrieved from the first data storage (104) or received in real-time via the first communication interface. The processing unit further transmits commands and data to the remote network devices in response to processing respective corresponding data. The apparatus further includes a second data storage for non-volatile storage of data processing results and is adapted for maintaining a link between data stored in the second storage and raw data stored in the first data storage.

  • Patent number: 9049240
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method at a network device, the device comprising a first interface to a first network, a second interface to a second network, and routing means, for enabling access to a file shared by a first device located on the first network, the network device having detected the presence of the first device on the first network, the first device comprising at least one shared file. The method comprises the step, at the network device, of detecting that the first device is not accessible, on reception of a request from a second device located on the second network for getting a shared file on the first device, storing the request, on detection that the first device is accessible, retrieving the shared file in a memory of the network device, and sending a notification to the second device that the shared file is available at the network device or sending the file to the second device.

  • Publication number: 20140189362
Abstract: The method for a backup and restore of configuration data of an end-user device comprises the steps: encrypting the configuration data by using symmetric-key encryption with a symmetrical key, signing the encrypted configuration data with a device private key, and sending the encrypted and signed configuration data to a personal computer of a user of the end-user device, and/or to a storage location of a service provider network, for storage. For restoring of configuration data intended for use within the end-user device, a first or a second public key of an asymmetric key encryption system is used for validating signed configuration data provided by the service provider network or for validating signed configuration data stored on the personal computer of the user.

  • Patent number: 8325739
Abstract: The invention concerns a gateway device comprising means for connection to a first device and means for connection to a second device for obtaining a network address as a function of a network resource identifier provided by the second device, and means for providing a false network address in response to a network resource identifier provided by the first device in case a real network address cannot be provided. The means for providing a false network address are adapted to provide a distinct false network address for a distinct network resource identifier—when the real address becomes available, a request made on the distinct false address allows the first device to obtain the corresponding real network address. The invention also concerns an associated process.
