  • Patent number: 5516447
Abstract: A process for the production of washing- and cleaning-active surfactant granules containing 60 to 70% by weight of surfactant and having an apparent density above 500 g/l, wherein a formulation containing a non-surface-active liquid component and having a liquid to paste-like form under normal pressure at temperatures of 20.degree. to 40.degree. C. is introduced to a fluidized bed and granulated and, at the same time, totally or partially freed from the non-surface-active liquid compound, optionally with addition of an inorganic or organic solid, and wherein the granules are discharged from the fluidized bed via a grading step by a countercurrent air-stream which is adjusted so that only particles above a predetermined size are removed from the granules.

  • Patent number: 5501817
Abstract: A method for stabilizing aqueous zeolite suspensions by adding fatty-alcohol poly(ethylene glycol) ethers of the formula R.sup.1 O--(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n in which R.sup.1 is a linear aliphatic alkyl group containing 12 to 14 carbon atoms and n is an average number of from 4.2 to 4.8. Aqueous slurries containing from 20 to 60% by weight of zeolite are stabilized by adding it to the slurry from 0.1 to 5% by weight of the fatty-alcohol poly(ethylene glycol) ethers.

  • Patent number: 5476610
Abstract: A process for stabilizing an aqueous zeolite suspension by adding to the suspension at least one nonionic surfactant comprising an alkyl or alkenyl glycoside of the formula R.sup.3 O--(G).sub.x in which R.sup.3 is an alkyl or alkenyl group containing 6 to 22 carbon atoms, G is a glycose residue of a sugar containing 5 or 6 carbon atoms and x is a number of 1 to 10. Only nonionic surfactants are added to the suspension to stabilize the suspension. The suspension may be stabilized by addition of the alkyl or alkenyl glycoside in combination with nonionic surfactant such as a Guebert alcohol polyethylene glycol ether or a fatty alcohol polyethylene glycol ether.

  • Patent number: 5397507
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of converting aqueous surfactant mixtures, in particular aqueous pastes of surfactants with washing properties such as fatty-alcohol sulphates, in particular tallow alcohol sulphates and/or C.sub.12 -C.sub.18 fatty-alcohol sulphates, monosalts of sulphonic fatty-acid methyl esters and their di-salts, alkylglusoside compounds, etc., into concentrated granular material with a long shelf life by granulation. The aqueous surfactant mixture, which includes as a viscosity-control agent alkoxylates of mono- and/or polyhydric alcohols with 8-40 carbon atoms which have up to 20 ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide groups, is granulated together with fine-particulate water-soluble and/or water-insoluble solids compatible with washing and/or cleaning agents to give a free-running compound. At least part of the water content of the granular material thus produced is preferably then removed by drying, in particular in a fluidized bed.

  • Patent number: 4820448
Abstract: A low-water content surfactant mixture which is pourable and pumpable at ambient temperature having high wetting power and detergency when used in a fabric detergent composition has a water content of no more than about 20% by weight, and consists essentially of (1) from about 50 to about 65% by weight of a C.sub.12 -C.sub.18 fatty alcohol ethoxylate containing an average of about 10 moles of ethylene oxide, (2) from about 5 to about 15% by weight of an alkali metal salt of a C.sub.16 -C.sub.18 tallow alcohol sulfate; (3) from about 4 to about 15% by weight of a C.sub.12 -C.sub.16 alkane sulfonate alkali metal salt and/or the disodium salt of n-octyl sulfosuccinate; and (4) from about 5 to about 13% by weight of a free C.sub.16 -C.sub.18 fatty acid.
