Patent number: 6471262Abstract: The invention relates to a device for locking a part (3; 21; 31) that is to be secured, arranged so that it can move on a motor vehicle, a securing part (11; 26; 36) engaging in a slot-shaped cavity (7; 28; 38) of the part (3; 21; 31) that is to be secured under the effect of the acceleration forces that occur when the corresponding vehicle coincides with an obstacle. To allow the device to be fitted simply and in a non-bulky way and to reliably prevent unintentional opening of the door of the vehicle when acceleration forces from different directions are applied on the part that is to be secured, the invention proposes that the securing part (11; 26; 36) be controlled by a control element (10; 22; 32) of spherical shape, the control element (10; 22; 32) resting on a guide (8; 23; 33) via domed or conical control surfaces (9).Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2000Date of Patent: October 29, 2002Assignee: Valeo GmbH & Company SchliessystemeInventor: Dittmar Schwab

Patent number: 6314775Abstract: A flat key having a grip element (2) and a key bit (3), the grip element (2) including a casing (4) and the key bit (3) being arranged in a manner enabling it to be moved into and out of the grip element casing (4) and to be fixed in its respective extreme position. In order to provide a flat key (1) with an axially displaceable key bit (3) which has an inexpensively manufactured drive and requires relatively small dimensions, a spring (7)—preferably a scroll spring—is disposed as the drive in the grip element casing (4), the two end zones (8, 9) of said spring each being wound spirally onto two holders (10, 11) arranged at the side of the key bit (3). The central zone (12) of the spring (7) rests against a support (13) on the end of the key bit (3) that is situated inside the grip element casing (4), with the usual result that when the key bit (3) is inserted into the grip element casing (4) the spring (7) becomes uncoiled from the holders (10, 11) and thus tensioned.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2000Date of Patent: November 13, 2001Assignee: Valeo GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5913909Abstract: A device with a selection lever, which is pivoted about a rotational axis and arranged on a selection lever housing, for motor vehicle automatic transmissions, wherein a barring bolt connected with a lock cylinder is provided for the bolting mechanism of the selection lever. To keep the selection lever housing which rises into the vehicle's interior as small as possible, the barring bolt is disposed underneath the rotational axis of the selection lever. For the bolting mechanism of the selection lever, the barring bolt then engages a groove-shaped recess, of a pivoted catch lever arranged likewise underneath the rotational axis. The catch lever is fixed by the barring bolt and also fixes the selection lever in its bolted setting with a tang. For this, the selection lever is designed as a reversing lever, so that the tang of the catch lever engages the (second) lever part of the selection lever located underneath the rotational axis.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1997Date of Patent: June 22, 1999Assignee: Valeo GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5632516Abstract: A motor vehicle door handle (1) with a base body (2) and a handle flap (18) which in its starting position partially covers an external handle recess (17), with the handle flap (18) being connected to one lever end (21) of each of two swivelling levers (6) which are pivotally mounted in an interior (3) of the vehicle door. In order for the handle flap (18) to fold back easily into an actuating position which favors gripping in a second end position (pull-out position) when the door is opened without the danger of injury in the hand area of the individual opening the door, the handle flap (18) is connected to each of the swivelling levers (6) by a respective lever-shaped arm (20) which can preferably be swivelled, only after reaching the pull-out position, against the direction of rotation of the swivelling lever (6) into an actuating position which favors gripping. In this case the swivelling motion of an arm (20) is preferably caused or supported by a pre-stressed torsion spring (23).Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1996Date of Patent: May 27, 1997Assignee: YMOS Aktiengesellschaft IndustrieprodukteInventor: Dittmar Schwab

Patent number: 5189895Abstract: A cylinder lock, especially suitable for motor vehicle doors, has a locking cylinder and a key, whereby the locking cylinder includes at least one cylinder housing with at least one blocking channel and one cylinder core with tumblers, each of which is movable about its own axis. At least one protruding cam or a recess is provided on the key or on the tumblers for transmitting the linear key motion in the key channel into a motion of each tumbler about its own axis.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1990Date of Patent: March 2, 1993Assignee: Yoms Aktiengesellschaft IndustrieprodukteInventors: Dittmar Schwab, Dieter Knauer

Patent number: 4759203Abstract: A steering and ignition lock has a locking cylinder which is provided on its circumference with a control cam for cooperation with a control pin (16). A slide member is linearly displaceable if released by the control pin which may be moved into and out of the path of the slide member to lock the slide member or to release the slide member. The slide member is either connected, for example through a Bowden cable, to the transmission selector lever, or to a safety lever so that the operability of the steering and ignition depends on the prior operation of the gear shift lever or of the safety lever.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1988Date of Patent: July 26, 1988Assignee: Ymos Aktiengeselschaft IndustrieprodukteInventors: Kurt Lieb, Dittmar Schwab

Patent number: 4253320Abstract: The present magnetic lock is operated by a key including control magnets. For this purpose a locking bar is radially shiftable in a locking cylinder in a housing. Magnetic rotors release or lock the locking bar which is spring biased toward the magnetic rotors. A spring biased control member is shiftable into a locking channel of the locking bar. The control member is equipped with entraining elements which engage the locking bar.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1979Date of Patent: March 3, 1981Assignee: YMOS-Metallwerke Wolf & Becker GmbH & Co.Inventors: Dittmar Schwab, Hermann Bartels, Walter Graf
