Patents by Inventor Divya Kurthakoti Chandrashekhara

Divya Kurthakoti Chandrashekhara has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 9640997
Abstract: A power grid of renewable sources is stabilized. Inverters for connecting power sources, such as wind turbines, batteries, or photovoltaics, to a grid are used to damp grid oscillations. The damping is distributed to the inverters, but based on measurements for the grid rather than local measurements. The control of the damping is based on grid wide analysis, and the damping is performed proportionately by already existing inverters distributed throughout the grid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 30, 2012
Date of Patent: May 2, 2017
    Assignee: Siemens Corporation
Inventors: Divya Kurthakoti Chandrashekhara, Yaosuo Xue
  • Patent number: 9611836
Abstract: The invention refers to a multilevel topology power converter (I) for electrical adaption of a low voltage alternating current (LVAC) of an electrical wind power generator (1) and a medium voltage (MV) transmission level for a transmission link to each other, the power converter (I) comprising for each phase: a switching unit (9) for adapting the low voltage (LV) and the medium voltage (MV) to each other, the switching unit (9) being controlled by a controller (15), whereby the controlled switching unit (9) separately switches n+1 terminal potentials along terminals of an electrical series of n>1 capacitors C1 . . . Cn (7); a current converter (5) for providing or using a direct current (DC) through the plurality of n>1 capacitors C1 . . . Cn (7) connected in series.

Inventors: Divya Kurthakoti Chandrashekhara, Martin Hergt, Christian Schacherer
  • Publication number: 20160149509
Abstract: The invention relates to a Terminal (I) for electrical connection of an amount of electrical generators (1) to a high-voltage transmission network (3), the terminal (I) comprising connected in series in this order for each generator (1) assembly level (Li): a start AC/DC converter (5) for rectification of the generator voltage(s); a series resonant converter (7) for galvanic isolation between the generator (1) and the high-voltage; a converter unit (9) for providing the high-voltage.

  • Patent number: 8227929
Abstract: A power generation system having a wind turbine blade assembly, a generator mechanically coupled to the blade assembly, and a power converter coupled to the generator is provided. An energy storage device and a bidirectional converter coupling the energy storage device to the power converter are also provided in the system. An inertia controller is provided for generating a first transient signal to regulate active power from the wind turbine system when a power grid signal is outside of a respective signal range. The system further includes an energy storage controller for providing a second transient signal to the bidirectional converter to regulate a power to or from the energy storage device based upon the first transient signal, power generating system conditions or combinations thereof.
