    Abstract: A system and a method that enable a digital thread-driven sustainability design wherein a Digital Thread (DT) is proposed as a distributed enterprise software platform that is designed for managing lifecycle sustainability data of a product throughout its lifecycle. A digitally integrated total lifecycle product design using a Digital Thread model is provided that enables one to perform predictive computational modeling for multi-lifecycle product design. The Digital Thread enables a set of predictive computational modeling tools for total lifecycle product design optimization, simulation and uncertainty and risk analysis integrated to access data through the Digital Thread. A systematic approach for development and analysis of a lifecycle sustainability model of a designed product is provided. Also, a central repository concept or a single point of access to the lifecycle sustainability data is provided.

The method includes opening an outside air flow control device to enable breathing air flow during a high outdoor air time period to a first zone having a first number of occupants and a second zone having a second number of occupants that is less than the first number of occupants. The outside air flow control device is then closed to enable conditioning air flow during a low outdoor air time period to the first and second zones. Further, a variable air volume (VAV) air flow control device provides desired amounts of breathing air to the first and second zones suitable for the first and second number of occupants, respectively. A VAV air temperature control device then provides conditioning air to the first and second zones having a suitable temperature for the first and second number of occupants.

Additional graphical trees can be displayed simultaneously and associations between nodes of the different graphical trees can be designated.
