  • Publication number: 20210084711
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to multi-link operation. A device may configure a single N×N transmit (TX)/receive (RX) radio to a plurality of 1×1 TX/RX radios, where N is a positive integer. The device may monitor a first channel of a plurality of channels to determine its availability. The device may monitor a second channel of the plurality of channels to determine its availability. The device may identify a first control frame received from an access point (AP) multi-link device (MLD) on the second channel. The device may cause to send a second control frame to the AP MLD on the second channel. The device may configure back to a single N×N TX/RX radio to receive a data frame.

  • Publication number: 20210076422
Abstract: Embodiments of a beacon interval with boundary time points (BTPs) to improve latency for time sensitive traffic (TST) in Extremely High Throughout (EHT) WLANS are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a non-access point (AP) station (STA) is configured to decode a beacon frame received from an AP STA. The beacon frame may indicate one or more BTPs within a beacon interval (BI). The non-AP STA may obtain a transmission opportunity (TXOP) for a transmission to the AP STA. The TXOP may be bounded by the one or more BTPs. The non-AP STA may encode a PPDU for transmission to the AP STA during the TXOP.

  • Publication number: 20210045095
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to multi-link acknowledgments. A device may transmit a trigger frame to a station device (STA) multi-link device (MLD), wherein the trigger frame polls the STA MLD to announce presence on communication links. The device may identify a null data packet (NDP) from the STA MLD announcing its presence on a set of communication links. The device may establish the set of communication links with the STA MLD, wherein the STA MLD comprises a plurality of station devices (STAs). The device may allocate a plurality of tone-sets to the plurality of STAs within the STA MLD. The device may identify energy on the allocated tone-sets for each link that the STA MLD has presence on.

  • Publication number: 20210045192
Abstract: Embodiments of an access point (AP) configured for extremely high throughput (EHT) operation may be configured to operate as a triggering AP for a trigger-based (TB) peer-to-peer (P2P) communication between a triggered direct (TD) station (STA) and a TD peer STA. The AP may encode a Direct Link Announcement (DiL-A) frame to schedule the TD STA for a direct link transmission to the TD peer STA. The DiL-A frame may be encoded to include a Duration/ID field. The AP may set the Duration/ID field of the DiL-A frame to a remaining duration of a transmission opportunity (TXOP) when the TD peer STA is an EHT STA that supports TB P2P operation (e.g., to allow the TD peer STA to ignore the NAV set by the DiL-A frame). The AP may set the Duration/ID field of the DiL-A frame to a response time for the TD STA to respond to the DiL-A frame when the TD Peer STA is a legacy STA (e.g., to allow the TD peer STA to set its NAV based on the response time).

  • Publication number: 20200274588
Abstract: An access point (AP) may operate as a master AP (AP1) to perform multi-AP coordinated beamforming (CBF). The AP1 may to initiate a first sounding sequence with one or more STAs associated with the AP1 (BSS STAs) and the one or more STAs associated with a second AP (AP2) (OBSS STAs). In these embodiments, initiation of the first sounding sequence triggers the AP2 to join the sounding sequence to initiate a second sound sequence with the BSS STAs and the OBSS STAs.

  • Publication number: 20200214036
Abstract: Embodiments of an access point (AP), station (STA) and method of communication are generally described herein. The AP may be configurable for multi-band operation in a plurality of frequency bands, each frequency band comprising one or more channels. The AP may select a subset of the frequency bands for which the AP is to request per-band channel availability information from the STA. The AP may transmit a Trigger Frame (TF) for a multi-band bandwidth query report polling (MB-BQRP) to request the per-band channel availability information. The AP may receive an uplink frame that includes a multi-band bandwidth query report (MB-BQR) that indicates the per-band channel availability information. The AP may determine, based on the MB-BQR, for an uplink transmission by the STA: one or more frequency bands of the subset of frequency bands, and one or more corresponding channels.

  • Patent number: 9369188
Abstract: A system and method are provided to trigger re-beamforming based on an algorithm that assesses various link characteristics. The algorithm is based on the ability of a 60 GHz receiving device to track and feedback a Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) to a 60 GHz data packet transmitter. By automatically analyzing RSSI values across a range of data packets, including consecutive data packets, a link degradation trend is predicted. When link degradation crosses, or is predicted to cross, a predetermined threshold, re-beamforming is triggered by the algorithm. Variables in the algorithm and the predetermined thresholds used by the algorithm can be automatically or manually modified to maintain a balance between appropriately triggering the re-beamforming when the conditions arise without unnecessarily triggering the re-beamforming thereby causing unneeded interruptions in regular data flow.

  • Patent number: 8571036
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed involving media access. For instance, wireless connections may be assigned into one or more groups. The assignments may be based on interference characteristics. Connection(s) within each of these groups may have acceptable interference characteristics with each other. Further, media access may be granted based on these groups. For example, if a device wishes to communicate across one of the connections, access may be granted for concurrent connections among all connections in the corresponding group. The granting of such access may be performed by a centralized controller device, such as an access point.

  • Patent number: 8121595
Abstract: In a wireless network, the decision of when and whether to send unsolicited polls to a particular mobile wireless device may be made by monitoring communications conditions affecting the ability of the particular device to gain channel access, and sending unsolicited polls if the ability to gain channel access is below a threshold value. Such conditions may include one or more of channel load, device transmission load, collision rate, and number of mobile wireless devices contending for access.
