  • Patent number: 10631811
Abstract: A medical diagnostic system includes an image processor to generate a differential frame from two consecutive medical images of the heart based on difference in pixel-by-pixel brightness of the consecutive images. A brightness segmentation image having a plurality of brightness zones is generated based of the differential frame. From the brightness zones, a turbulence index is calculated based on the iso-contour and the area in each brightness zone. The turbulence index is a quantitative representation of a degree of turbulence in the blood flow which can be used to generate a prognosis and/or diagnosis of cardiac function.

  • Patent number: 10564074
Abstract: Rose Bengal for detecting a presence of chemical warfare agents. A method of detecting presence of a chemical warfare agent and includes applying a quinoid form of Rose Bengal to a substrate. When the substrate is exposed to the chemical warfare agent, a lactone form of Rose Bengal is spectrally observed because presence of the chemical warfare agent converts the quinoid form to the lactone form of Rose Bengal.

  • Patent number: 9676620
Abstract: The invention generally relates to fluorescent particles and more specifically to silica-based fluorescent nanoporous particles with physically encapsulated organic dyes. In one aspect of the invention, the nanoporous architecture provides a significant enhancement in fluorescence of the particles brightness compared to free dye. A particular chemical control of the silica matrix prevents the dye molecules from leaking the particles.

  • Patent number: 9470610
Abstract: Rose Bengal for detecting a presence of and decomposing contaminants. A method of detecting the presence of a contaminant includes treating a substrate with Rose Bengal and exposing the substrate to a light having a wavelength within the visible spectrum. A response of the Rose Bengal is monitored during the light exposure. When a contaminant is present and is exposed to the light, a conversion of the Rose Bengal between a quinoid form and a lactone form is induced.
