Abstract: A system is provided for transmitting/receiving downlink resource allocation information in a communication system. In the system, a base station generates first information including downlink resource allocation information necessary for supporting a first mode supported by the base station, generates second information including length information of the first information, and transmits the first information and the second information. A mobile station notifies the base station of a second mode supported by the mobile station, receives, after the notification, the first information and the second information from the base station, and skips without decoding as much downlink resource allocation information as a length corresponding to the length information without decoding, if the first mode is different from the second mode.

Abstract: Disclosed is a device and method that relates to radio engineering and especially to data transmission in a wireless local area network. The method improves the throughput of the wireless local area network, by selecting a transmission rate, data transmission mechanism and a fragment size which maximize the network throughput considering the receiving conditions on the receiver (bit error rate in the transmitted data units of the transmitter ) and taking into account the current network loading are selected for transmission of data units.

Abstract: A method for dialing a country code and area code of a telephone number in a telephone having a memory for storing country codes, area codes and various indication data, a key input part having a common number selecting key and a selection key for the various indication data, and a display, the method comprising the steps of: displaying first indication data on the display when data of the common number selecting key is input through the key input part while the telephone is in a hook-on state; and finding a desired country code or area code by using the selection key and the indication data, and displaying the desired country code or the desired area code on the display. Once the desired country code or area code is found, the user may then enter a telephone number and the telephone call will be made using the desired country code or area code together with the telephone number entered by the user.
