  • Patent number: 8175066
Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a packet data service by using a plurality of heterogeneous networks is provided. The apparatus includes: a controller for allocating a representative IP address to the terminal and for binding sub-IP address, which are allocated to the terminal by the heterogeneous wireless networks, to the representative IP address; a copy unit for copying an IP packet received from an IP network according to the number of wireless networks to which the terminal is currently connected; and a converter for performing packet conversion on the copied IP packets by using corresponding sub-IP addresses and for transmitting the converted IP packets to the heterogeneous wireless networks. Accordingly, a seamless data service can be provided to a terminal in a service environment where a plurality of wireless communication systems is used.

  • Publication number: 20040202329
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for providing a broadcast service to a mobile station over a radio channel in a mobile communication system. A base station determines whether a mask key is requested by a mobile station, based on a predetermined registration identifier included in a registration message received from the mobile station, and transmits a currently valid mask key only when it is determined that another mask key is requested by the mobile station. The base station transmits another mask key to be used next, or transmits another mask key to be used next, together with the currently valid mask key, if the registration message was received within a predetermined skew time before a lifetime of the currently valid mask key expires.

  • Patent number: 6469999
Abstract: A method and apparatus for connecting daisy chained BTSs (Base Transceiver Stations) by utilizing a multiplexer and a demultiplexer is disclosed. The BSC (Base Station Controller) generates packets to be passed to the daisy chained BTS and multiplexes the packets to transmit them to the BTS. The BTS receives the multiplexed packets and demultiplexes the packets, and as a result of the demultiplexing, if the packets are for the respective BTS, then the respective BTS receives them and transmits the remaining packets to the next BTSs. Additionally, the daisy chained BTS being connected to other BTS generates packets to be passed to a BTS and decodes the transmitted packets. As a result of the decoding, if the packets are for the respective BTS, the respective demultiplexer passes the packets to the corresponding BTS; otherwise, it passes the packets to the BSC.

  • Publication number: 20020141357
Abstract: A method of providing a diversity of call services in a CDMA-2000 mobile communication system supporting a packet-based call service. The method provides a user with such a packet call service via an Internet Protocol (IP) based network and includes the steps of constructing a set of service primitive information including radio channel assignment information in accordance with at least one service class for the packet call service, determining a service primitive combination according to the service class of the packet call based on the service primitive information, assigning to the mobile terminal a radio channel corresponding to the service primitive combination, if a packet call for at least one mobile terminal is generated, and then providing the mobile terminal with the requested packet call service by using the assigned radio channel.

  • Publication number: 20020126656
Abstract: There is provided a method of providing a voice call service and an additional service to a circuit network terminal via a packet-based network, and a network architecture therefor. In the network architecture, a RAN provides a call service to the circuit network terminal, a mediation gateway makes the circuit network terminal recognized as a packet network terminal in the packet-based network by performing IP registration for the circuit network terminal. An access gateway provides predetermined traffic interfacing upon request from the mediation gateway and transmits voice traffic from the circuit network terminal to a terminal of a called party via the packet-based network.
