  • Publication number: 20080008241
Abstract: In one embodiment of a method of decoding a first frame sequence layer, at least one motion vector of an image block in a frame of the first frame sequence layer is determined based on a motion vector for an image block in a frame of a second frame sequence layer. Here, the frame of the second frame sequence layer is temporally separated from the frame of the first frame sequence layer. The image block in the frame of the first frame sequence layer is decoded based on the determined motion vector.

  • Publication number: 20070280354
Abstract: In one embodiment of a method of decoding a first frame sequence layer, at least one motion vector of an image block in a frame of the first frame sequence layer is determined based on scaling a motion vector for an image block in a frame of a second frame sequence layer. The motion vector for the image block in the frame of the second frame sequence layer is scaled based on a display size difference between frames in the second frame sequence layer and frames in the first frame sequence layer. A display size of frames in the second frame sequence layer is different than a display size of frames in the first frame sequence layer, and the second frame sequence layer does not include a frame temporally coincident with the frame of the first frame sequence layer. The image block in the frame of the first frame sequence layer is decoded based on the determined motion vector.

  • Publication number: 20070223573
Abstract: In one embodiment of a method of decoding a first frame sequence layer, at least one motion vector of an image block in a frame of the first frame sequence layer is determined based on a motion vector for an image block in a frame of a second frame sequence layer, a first derivation factor and a second derivation factor. The first derivation factor is based on a temporal difference between the frame in the second frame sequence layer and the frame in the first frame sequence layer. The second derivation factor is based on a display size difference between frames in the first frame sequence layer and frames in the second frame sequence layer. The second frame sequence layer does not include a frame temporally coincident with the frame of the first frame sequence layer. The image block in the frame of the first frame sequence layer is decoded based on the determined motion vector.

  • Publication number: 20060222068
Abstract: In one embodiment, decoding of a video sigal includes predicting at least a portion of a current image in a current layer based on at least a portion of a base image in a base layer and offset information. The offset information indicates an offset based on at least one pixel in the current image and a corresponding at least one pixel in the base image. For example, the offset information may represent a position offset between at least one sample in the current image and at least one sample in an up-sampled portion of the base image.

  • Publication number: 20050207499
Abstract: The present invention provides an adaptive intra-macroblock refresh method, by which an intra-macroblock refresh technology is applied in a manner of considering an error recovering method of a decoder. The present invention includes the steps of measuring a correlation between a motion vector of a currently encoded macroblock and a motion vector of a neighbor macroblock, recording a measurement result of the correlation in a refresh map by block unit, and performing encoding using the refresh map.

  • Publication number: 20050201460
Abstract: A method for controlling a bit rate of an image is provided. The method comprises analyzing a motion level of the inputted image; classifying the inputted image into a picture category according to the image's number of intra-blocks; and controlling the image's bit rate by allocating a first quantization parameter value to an input frame when the inputted image is classified as a motion picture.
