  • Patent number: 4229985
Abstract: The present invention relates to a variable speed traction drive employing combinations of the following shapes; cones, internally tapered sleeves, dual faced internally tapered sleeves, and a combination of a dual faced internal wheel with a dual faced external shape. The primary purpose of the shapes and the manner in which they engage in traction is to achieve a matched geometry between the contacted rolling components, to increase the contacting surface areas, to engage each other in a point to point relationship, and to maintain a narrow or small difference between the largest diameter of any of the rolling components of the drive and the smallest diameter of any of the rolling components of the drive. For example, a velocity difference occurs when a cylinder is driven by traction by a cone roller, or when two cones whose angles are not alike are driven one to the other by traction.

  • Patent number: 4183253
Abstract: The present invention relates to a traction nipping drive employing cones, tapered cylinders, spheres and an uniquely designed angular power transfer wheel. The power transfer wheel is capable of matching the angles of the driver cones, spheres, or tapered cylinders to the driven cones, spheres or tapered cylinders, permitting them to engage each other in a point to point relationship. This point to point relationship remains continuous through the complete range of the drive. The same power transfer wheel, is thereafter also capable of engaging the cones, spheres or tapered cylinders in a point to point relationship for the entire speed range of the drive. An essential criteria of this invention is the use of a prior art technique as shown in U.S. Pat. No. 3,894,439. This technique employs the positive simultaneous driving of all driven and driver discs, cones and tapered cylinders, so that all surface movements are matched in the driving and driven action.

  • Patent number: 4104548
Abstract: Underlying the present invention is the recognition that a conventional electric motor, which has its rotor move only in passing relation to the stator magnetic field-producing coils, is the significant source of inefficiency delaying the development of an effective use of electrical energy. That is said conventional electric motor's ineffective use of the motive power available from the electrical source, rather than any nominal extent thereof, is what primarily restricts the efficient use of existing electric motors and contributes to unpredictable electrical consumption, short circuits when in a stalled position, loss of directional power when starting with a load that causes a counter-rotation, inability to readily change speed and horsepower output, excessive costs of repair, inefficiencies caused by back EMF and other current losses which may amount to 20% of applied current, poor magnetic design, and other such problems, all of which are solved or obviated by the within improved electric motor.

  • Patent number: 4042754
Abstract: A battery in which, to improve its discharging performance, the liquid electrolyte is maintained at a specific gravity that is optimum for electrical conductivity, and a magnetic flux is imposed upon the battery plates, and other such conditions which also favor electrical conductivity, saturation, storage and desaturation are maintained.

  • Patent number: 4020370
Abstract: The within invention, which is directed to effective use of electric energy is concerned with an improved electric motor which, as a substitute for the conventional operative arrangement of rotor and field coils, instead has the rotor urged through movement centrally of, rather than merely past, the field coils, thus obtaining maximum prime mover drive for any electrically powered motor.
