  • Patent number: 8677980
Abstract: A fuel conditioning system is applied to common rail direct injection or unit injector diesel engines. A liquid fuel is conditioned with gas for combustion in the combustion chambers. The system includes an elongate conditioning vessel, at least one fuel dispensing inlet, at least one carbon dioxide inlet port, and at least one conditioned fuel outlet port on the vessel. Carbon dioxide and diesel fuel are fed into the inlet portion of the vessel. The mixture travels a path of at least ten feet in the vessel to the outlet portion to cause the carbon dioxide gas to dissolve in the liquid fuel for forming a liquid/gas fuel solution. At least one high-pressure fuel pump feeds the liquid fuel/gas solution into fuel injectors.

  • Patent number: 8167292
Abstract: Jaw plates for removably attaching to the jaws of machine vises extend above the top of the jaw to hold taller workpieces. They are made from aluminum alloy for readily machining to conform to contours of a workpiece not easily held by flat jaw faces. They are sections cut from a special extrusion for enhanced physical properties and economy of production. Through holes are drilled for fastening to the jaw face. The plate has a planar vertical face for lying flat on the vertical jaw face. A second face engages the top horizontal face of the jaw. A groove between the two plate faces ensures the second face engages the horizontal face of the jaw away from the intersection of the faces. Alternatively, material on the plate may conform to the workpiece when hot and retain shape when cool.

  • Patent number: 7805967
Abstract: Apparatus is simply hung on a deadbolt knob when the deadbolt is in locked position. It prevents the deadbolt knob from rotating enough to retract the deadbolt. This ensures that the door cannot be unlocked from the outside. A passage in an upper end of the apparatus is dimensioned to receive the deadbolt knob. The deadbolt knob is not round. The passage has side walls narrow enough to prevent the deadbolt knob from rotating freely within the passage. As the knob is rotated, the knob engages the side walls of the passage so that the entire apparatus rotates until the lower end of the apparatus engages the door frame. Many passages are provided so that the apparatus may be used with deadbolt knobs that have different locked positions.

  • Patent number: 6308903
Abstract: Apparatus and method for processing used vehicle tires that separates the steel metal from the rubber and other non-metallic materials for recycling. The tire is rotated at sufficient speed to force the materials outwardly by centrifugal force. Heated blades move centripetally to melt and cut through the non-metallic materials, dividing the tire into at least two arcs that are held together by the steel reinforcement that is not easily cut through. Electric heating apparatus heats the steel more than the rubber so that the forces binding the rubber are released, enabling the rubber and other non-metallic materials to be flung outwardly away from the steel. The steel is then collected separately. The differential heating apparatus may be inductive or resistive.

  • Patent number: 6254466
Abstract: A tumbler apparatus for abrading and polishing small parts and rocks includes a cylindrical barrel with a closed end and an open end. The inner surface at the open end has a circular sealing edge. A sealing closure for the sealing the barrel at the open end includes a first and a second rigid disc. A resilient band, either an O-ring or a cylinder, is held between the discs. A translating mechanism draws the discs toward one another in a sealing mode, that compresses the band to bulge outwardly to sealingly engage the inner sealing surface of the barrel open end. In a releasing mode, the discs are moved apart, allowing the band to resume it original shape, thereby unsealing the barrel to facilitate removal of the closure for access to the barrel contents. A pressure relief valve at the center of the discs may be optionally provided.

  • Patent number: 5239491
Abstract: A device has a plurality of recesses for holding a plurality of medication containers, each fitting into a unique recess. The geometry of the bottom of each medication container is unique and only matches one recess in the holder. A sensor in each recess signals the presence or absence of the dedicated container to a microprocessor. The microprocessor is programmed with the prescribed dose administration schedule for each of the different medications in the different containers. A real time clock cooperates with the microprocessor and the program to signal audibly and visibly by a light at the appropriate container when a particular pill is to be administered. The signals stop when the appropriate container is removed from its recess. A different, warning sound indicates when the wrong container is lifted. Since only one particular container will fit into the programmed recess location, errors in medication administration are prevented.
