Abstract: A field effect transistor in which a continuous semiconductor layer comprises: a) an organic semiconductor; and, b) an organic binder which has an inherent conductivity of less than 10?6Scm?1 and a permittivity at 1,000 Hz of less than 3.3 and a process for its production comprising: coating a substrate with a liquid layer which comprises the organic semiconductor and a material capable of reacting to form the binder; and, converting the liquid layer to a solid layer comprising the semiconductor and the binder by reacting the material to form the binder.

Abstract: A method for preparing a conjugated molecule comprising a first monomer coupled to a second monomer, said method comprising: (i) linking the first monomer to a solid support via the germanium atom of a germyl linking group; (ii) coupling the first monomer to the second monomer in a coupling position to form a bound conjugated molecule, wherein the second monomer has a protecting group in a non-coupling position; (iii) optionally sequentially coupling a third, fourth . . . and nth monomer to the second, third and (n?1)th monomer respectively; (iv) removing the protecting group; and (v) ipso-degermylation to release the bound conjugated molecule.

Abstract: A solvent extraction composition is provided which comprises one or more orthohydroxyarylaldoxime or orthohydroxyarylketoxime and at least one dialkyl ester of an optionally substituted ethylene or polyethylene glycol and preferably a water immiscible organic solvent. The orthohydroxyarylaldoximes, or orthohydroxyarylketoximes commonly are of Formula (1), wherein R1 is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group, and R2 is an ortho-hydroxyaryl group; and the dialkyl esters of an optionally substituted ethylene or polyethylene glycol commonly are of Formula (2), wherein R7 and R8 are each independently an optionally substituted alkyl group; R9 to R20 are each independently hydrogen or optionally substituted hydrocarbyl; m, n and p are each independently 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 provided that m+n+p is greater than or equal to 1; and q is 1, 2 or 3.
