  • Patent number: 8524120
Abstract: Single pellets of a thermoplastic resin containing long glass fibers and a conductive filler are set forth that enable molded articles made from these pellets to exhibit conductivity and, at the same time, high mechanical properties. These pellets have mechanical properties that are substantially equivalent to non-conductive pellets of a thermoplastic resin containing same loading of long glass and provide conductivity that is substantially equivalent to articles obtained by blending two kinds of pellets, one pellet having a conductive filler and the other pellet one containing long glass fibers. The pellets include a thermoplastic resin, a long fiber reinforcing filler and a conductive additive dispersed in the pellet.

  • Publication number: 20110213098
Abstract: An article that includes a thermoplastic composition and a crosslinking agent. The crosslinking agent is thermally activated by annealing at a temperature proximate to the flow point of the thermoplastic composition to stabilize the dimensions of the article during service when compared with a similar article that contains the thermoplastic resin without the crosslinking agent or a similar article that contains the crosslinking agent but is thermally activated at a rate of greater than or equal to about 5 degrees centigrade per minute to the same temperature.

  • Publication number: 20090227707
Abstract: A flame retardant thermoplastic composition that includes a polycarbonate or polycarbonate blend resin, a non-brominated, non-chlorinated flame retardant package, a carbon-containing synergist, such as carbon black and an optional reinforcing filler. The composition provides high impact resistance, improved flame retardant characteristics, and/or good processing during injection molding (i.e. mold-ability), while complying with regulations that restrict the use of halogenated materials. These compositions may be used, for example, to injection-mold big or complex parts that are used in objects that are beneficially flame-resistant and/or do not break when an accidental impact occurs during usage or transportation.

  • Publication number: 20060169390
Abstract: A method for reducing elongational viscosity of an elastomeric composition includes adding at least one elongational-viscosity-reducing additive to the elastomeric composition in an amount so that the elongational viscosity of the elastomeric composition, measured at 120° C. and at a shear rate of at least 1000 sec?1, is at least 10% less than the elongational viscosity, measured at 120° C. and at the shear rate of at least 1000 sec?1, of the elastomeric composition without the at least one additive. A process for producing a tyre includes feeding an elastomeric composition to an extruder; forming, by extrusion, the elastomeric composition as a continuous elongated element; and depositing the elongated element on a support in a plurality of coils to make up a structural element of the tyre. Forming the elastomeric composition is carried out at the shear rate. The elastomeric composition comprises the at least one additive.
