  • Patent number: 5839200
Abstract: A combination level has a carrier forming two opposite parallel major surfaces. A tube level is mounted on one of the surfaces of the circular level and a circular is mounted on the other, opposite, surface. either one of the major surfaces can be used directly to abut against a work to be aligned or an additional, preferably elongate, member can be attached to the carrier and which abuts against the work. The carrier is mounted on the abutting member at known angular relationship or the carrier can be mounted for selected angular adjustments abutting to the abutting member, so that selected positioning of the tubular and circular levels are relative to each other on substantially horizontal planes where contact of the work, allows measurement of vertical alignment and plumb condition of the work.

  • Patent number: 5685083
Abstract: A generally conventional plumb level having an elongate rectangular body and generally defining an elongate axis is provided with a circular level element at one end surface of its elongate body. A square or right angle abutment contact surface, which is formed by a flat base which is attached to and projects laterally beyond spaced parallel surfaces of the rectangular body for engaging and contacting a structural member to be aligned. The circular level element is either permanently attached to the elongate body or removably attached, in which case it is movable between operative and inoperative positions which do not interfere with the proper placement of the structural member against the abutment contact combination device.

  • Patent number: 4942323
Abstract: A two pole electric motor is described which includes at least one stator encircling winding which at least partially overlaps the rotor air gap to insure that substantially the entire magnetic field created by such rotor encircling winding is forced to pass through the rotor with minimal leakage or fringe magnetic field bypassing the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4581554
Abstract: A dynamoelectric machine of the type having a cylindrical rotor including electrical conductors having radial portions and radially extending magnetic portions and including permanent and/or electromagnets to form axial end air gaps between the rotor and the stator, to provide interaction between the magnetic fields in the axial end air gaps and the electrical conductor radial portions and the radially extending magnetic portions to increase the magnetic inductance of the lateral or end stator fields and the armature or rotor.

  • Patent number: 4488075
Abstract: An alternator is provided with a rotor which optimizes magnetic flux both at the periphery as well as at the opposed axial surfaces of the rotor, and the magnetic flux is coupled to the stator armature coils either by disposing armature coils proximate to some of the rotor surfaces and coupling to these coils from the other surfaces by use of magnetic extensions which bridge the distance between the other surfaces and the armature coils. The alternator, therefore, maximizes the usable magnetic flux established by the rotor at both its peripheral and opposed axial surfaces and the stator armature structure is configured to optimize coupling to this now increased rotating flux field.

  • Patent number: 4441043
Abstract: A dynamoelectric machine of the type having a distributed armature winding in a cylindrical rotor wound to form axial and substantially radial winding portions and including permanent and/or electromagnets to form radial and axial air gaps between the rotor and the stator, and to provide interaction between the magnetic field in the radial air gap and the axial rotor winding portions and to provide interaction between the magnetic fields in the axial air gaps and the essentially radially rotor winding portions.

  • Patent number: 4023458
Abstract: A toy piano has a set of sound-producing elements disposed within a frame, and a set of key-shaped levers pivotably supported on the frame along a normally horizontal axis for movement from a first position to a second position, respectively. A set of hammers is pivotably disposed within the frame for striking the sound-producing elements; the hammer-contacting ends of the levers normally rest on the hammers, respectively, for preventing the release thereof. The sound-producing means are actuated either manually by depressing one of the levers and releasing it thereafter so that a corresponding hammer is then made to impinge on one of the sound-producing elements, or automatically when a cam-shaft is permitted to periodically strike at least one of the released hammers.
