Abstract: Described herein is technology for, among other things, a power supply for connection with and supplying power to an electronic device, and/or for charging a battery thereof. The power supply includes an input for receiving input power, an output for providing DC output power to the electronic device, and circuitry operable to determine an attribute of the battery and adjusting a charging characteristic of the power supply based on the attribute.

Also, a cable assembly for a power device such as a charger for providing output power to an electronic device is disclosed, the cable assembly including two pairs of wires wherein a first pair provides output power for the electronic device and a second pair includes a switch for turning off the charger.
