  • Publication number: 20030025014
Abstract: Provided is, among other things, and together with associated methods, a powder feed comprising: a venturi comprising an external gas inlet, a gas outlet through which gas flows at a rate amplified over a gas flow rate into the external gas inlet, and an internal gas inlet; and a cyclone with an intake port connected to the venturi gas outlet, a recycle outlet port, and a product port, wherein a gas flow rate FS into the venturi external gas inlet results in an enhanced flow rate into the cyclone intake port.

  • Patent number: 5753302
Abstract: The present invention provides an acoustic dispenser for propelling objects toward a substrate, together with methods of use of the dispenser. The acoustic dispenser uses a source of acoustic vibration and a membrane for the application of acoustic vibration wherein the objects are propelled from the membrane to a substrate. The acoustic dispenser and the methods of the invention can be used with numerous types of objects. In some embodiments, the objects are particles in a dry powder, which can include, for example, a pharmaceutically active ingredient. In other embodiments, the objects are beads, which preferably have an average diameter of about 100 to about 300 microns. Additionally, the acoustic dispenser can be used with more than one type of object, for example, two types of objects such as beads and dry powder.

  • Patent number: 5289311
Abstract: An optical element such as a rear projection screen for an image display device comprises at least two substantially rigid sheet members each having a first major surface and a second major surface providing a plane of incidence and a plane of emergence, respectively, through which light is transmitted sequentially. A first sheet member comprises a Fresnel lens, and a second sheet member comprises a lenticular lens array on each of the major surfaces thereof. The plane of emergence on the second major surface of the first sheet member includes the Fresnel lens formed of a radiation curable material. A method of making the Fresnel lens is described.
