  • Patent number: 11326645
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for an engine housing assembly. In one example, an engine housing assembly comprises an engine housing component, the housing component at least partially defining a first bore for receiving a first shaft and at least partially defining a second bore for receiving a second shaft; and a reinforcement member cast into the housing, the reinforcement member having a lower coefficient of thermal expansion than the housing component, wherein the reinforcement member at least partially surrounds the first and second bores. A method of manufacturing the engine housing assembly is also provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 20, 2019
Date of Patent: May 10, 2022
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Paul Nigel Turner, Robert Davies, Dominic Timothy Evans

  • Patent number: 10641381
Abstract: A gear assembly comprising first and second gears configured to mesh with each other, the first gear comprising inner and outer ring elements and a resilient ring element disposed between and coupled to the inner and outer ring elements, the outer ring element comprising first gear teeth which mesh with second gear teeth of the second gear, wherein the first and second gears each comprise a positioning ring axially spaced apart from the first and second gear teeth, the positioning rings being configured to engage each other and limit the position of the first and second gear teeth relative to each other.
