  • Patent number: 10454276
Abstract: A method is provided for connecting a main converter, e.g. for use in a power plant for regenerative energy having a generator, to a power grid. The method includes providing energy from the pre-charge unit to at least one of at least two converter paths. The at least one converter path is pre-charged using the energy provided from the pre-charge unit. At least one further converter path of the at least two converter paths is pre-charged using the energy provided from the pre-charge unit via the at least one converter path through the grid side converter of the at least one converter path and the grid side converter of the at least one further converter path. The main converter is connected to the power grid by closing the grid breaker.

  • Patent number: 10364802
Abstract: A method for heating a wind turbine facility includes: charging a DC link of an electrical converter connected with a wind turbine of the wind turbine facility; heating air inside the wind turbine facility with heat generated by a voltage limiting unit interconnected with the DC link, which includes a resistor adapted for dissipating electrical energy into heat for reducing a voltage in the DC link, when the voltage is above a threshold voltage; wherein the voltage limiting unit is controlled, such that the voltage limiting unit generates heat according to settings defined in a controller of the voltage limiting unit. The heating settings are changed based upon commands from a user interface. Furthermore, the DC link is charged by a grid side converter of the wind turbine facility with power from an electrical grid.

  • Patent number: 9667099
Abstract: A method is disclosed for operating an energy installation having a wind turbine or water turbine connected to a generator, a converter unit connected on the generator side to the generator, and an auxiliary energy unit for providing electrical energy to cover an intrinsic energy demand of the energy installation. The converter unit is connected to an electric power grid and feeds electrical energy generated by the generator into the electric power grid via the converter unit. The auxiliary energy unit is connected to the electric power grid for drawing electrical energy. In the event of a separation of the converter unit and of the auxiliary energy unit from the electric power grid, the auxiliary energy unit draws electrical energy from an energy storage unit for an adjustable period of time, and the auxiliary energy unit then draws electrical energy generated by the generator via the converter unit.
