  • Publication number: 20170108863
Abstract: A driver assistance system of a vehicle includes a camera and a non-imaging sensor sensing forward of the equipped vehicle. The control, responsive to processing of captured image data and to processing of sensed sensor data, is operable to provide a driver assistance function. The control, responsive to processing of captured image data, detects the presence of a vehicle and determines a vision-based angle of the detected vehicle relative to the equipped vehicle. The control, responsive to processing of captured sensor data, detects the presence of the detected vehicle and determines a sensor-based angle of the determined vehicle relative to the equipped vehicle. The control determines an angle difference between the vision-based angle and the sensor-based angle. The control disables the driver assistance function at least in part responsive to the determined angle difference being greater than a disable threshold level.

  • Publication number: 20160162743
Abstract: A vision system of a vehicle includes a camera and a non-imaging sensor. With the camera and the non-imaging sensor disposed at the vehicle, the field of view of the camera at least partially overlaps the field of sensing of the non-imaging sensor at an overlapping region. A processor is operable to process image data captured by the camera and sensor data captured by the non-imaging sensor to determine a driving situation of the vehicle. Responsive to determination of the driving situation, Kalman Filter parameters associated with the determined driving situation are determined and, using the determined Kalman Filter parameters, a Kalman Filter fusion may be determined. The determined Kalman Filter fusion may be applied to captured image data and captured sensor data to determine an object present in the overlapping region.

  • Publication number: 20160163199
Abstract: A method for determining potential collision includes capturing image data of an exterior environment ahead of a subject vehicle via a camera disposed at the subject vehicle. The presence of a leading vehicle ahead of the equipped vehicle is determined via image processing of captured image data. A time to collision to the leading vehicle is determined via image processing of captured image data. A determination, via image processing of captured image data, is made if a brake light of the leading vehicle is illuminated. Based at least in part on the determined time to collision and determination that the brake light of the leading vehicle is illuminated, at least one of (i) a degree of warning to a driver of the subject vehicle is determined and (ii) a braking level of the subject vehicle to mitigate collision with the leading vehicle is determined.

  • Patent number: 9260095
Abstract: A vision system of a vehicle includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and having a field of view forward of the vehicle. An image processing system is operable to process image data captured by the camera to determine the presence of a leading vehicle ahead of the equipped vehicle and to determine an illumination level of a taillight of the leading vehicle. Responsive to a determination of a relative speed of the leading vehicle relative to the equipped vehicle and a relative acceleration of the leading vehicle relative to the equipped vehicle, the vision system determines a braking level of the equipped vehicle to mitigate collision with the leading vehicle. Responsive to the determination of the illumination level of the taillight of the determined leading vehicle, the vision system is operable to apply a weighting factor to adjust the determined braking level for the determined traffic condition.
