Patent number: 11933075Abstract: An electronic key may include a partial capacitor comprising a capacitive metal plate in communication with a processor. The capacitive metal plate of the partial capacitor is configured to form a capacitor with a corresponding capacitive metal plate of a lock when brought into proximity with the metal plate of the lock. Data may be transferred from the key to the lock using a capacitor formed by combining the two metal plates, wherein a common ground is established between the metal plate of the key and the metal plate of the lock through a parasitic capacitance present between the key and lock circuitry. Audit trail data may be recorded based on usage of the key.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: KNOX Associates, Inc.Inventors: Bryan E. Pavlovic, Tamara Hatzinger, Dominik Scheffler, Howard Needham, Jason Pedersen, John Kowalski, Timothy Sherack, William James

Patent number: 11873660Abstract: An actuator-controlled electric strike for operating in conjunction with a spring latch of a lockset is provided. The strike comprises a housing having an entry chamber therein, and a spring latch keeper disposed in the entry chamber for movement between a keeper locked position and a keeper unlocked position. The spring latch keeper includes a keeper face, a second surface recessed from the keeper face and a contact ridge between the keeper face and second surface. The keeper face is contactable by the spring latch when the spring latch keeper is in the keeper locked position. The contact ridge, disposed at a non-perpendicular angle with the rotational axis of the keeper is contactable by the spring latch as the keeper moves toward its unlocked position so that a contact point on said spring latch changes as said spring latch exits said entry chamber.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2020Date of Patent: January 16, 2024Assignee: Hanchett Entry Systems, Inc.Inventors: Joshua T. Peabody, Dominik Scheffler

Publication number: 20230123791Abstract: A curing device is positionable to a mount on a resin injector to cure the resin injected into a defect in glass. A housing of the curing device is removably positionable to a mounted position on the resin injector. When in the mounted position the curing device positions a light area from light emitters to an area surrounding the nozzle of the injector to provide curing of the injected resin. A GPS locator can ascertain a location, date, and time of use of the curing device and store such use information in electronic memory.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 19, 2022Publication date: April 20, 2023Inventors: Shiloh Judah Spoo, Dominik Scheffler, Ashraf Wahba

Patent number: 11414891Abstract: An actuator-controlled strike comprising a housing disposable within a doorframe and including a cavity for a spring latch and a dead latch of a mortise-type lockset. A keeper is pivotably mounted within the chamber to engage the spring latch. A pivotably mounted kicker cooperates with the keeper. A pivotably mounted dead latch release is supported by the keeper when the spring latch is within the strike. The keeper is released by the actuator and rotates into a position to ramp the spring latch out of the strike, also allowing the dead latch release to release the dead latch into the cavity, allowing the spring latch to be ramped out of the strike. Pivoting the keeper causes the kicker to urge the spring latch onto an exit ramp on a face of the keeper. The dead latch release can be installed in a plurality of different locations in the housing.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2020Date of Patent: August 16, 2022Assignee: Hanchett Entry Systems, Inc.Inventors: Dominik Scheffler, Scott Sullivan

Patent number: 11268298Abstract: An actuator-controlled strike comprising a housing disposable within a doorframe and including a chamber for receiving a spring latch and a dead latch of a mortise-type lockset. A keeper is pivotably mounted within the chamber to restrain the spring latch. A pivotable spring latch lifter is positively driven by the keeper, and a pivotable dead latch release platform is supported by the keeper when the spring latch is locked within the strike. The keeper is released by the actuator and then may be rotated which causes rotation of the dead latch release platform, allowing the dead latch to enter the chamber. The keeper positively drives the spring latch lifter to lift the spring latch onto the external ramp of the strike. In an alternate embodiment, an internal ramp feature may be used instead of the spring latch lifter to positively lift the spring latch out of the chamber.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2018Date of Patent: March 8, 2022Assignee: Hanchett Entry Systems, Inc.Inventors: Dominik Scheffler, Scott P. Sullivan

Patent number: 10926494Abstract: A glass repair tool for injecting resin into defects in glass is provided, having a mount which is removably engageable to the glass and which is in a sliding ratcheted engagement with a resin injector. This ratcheted engagement allows translation of the injector quickly to a contact with the glass to position it for resin injection into the defect. Stretching suction cups and a compressible seal prevent excess force from being imparted to the glass during the contact of the injector with the glass.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2017Date of Patent: February 23, 2021Inventors: Randy Mackey, Seth Schuepbach, Brad Plumb, Shiloh Spoo, Dominik Scheffler

Patent number: 10718137Abstract: A swivel lock assembly with electronic and manual actuating means to unlock a handle thereby permitting access to the interior of the cabinet wherein the manual actuator can override the electronic actuator and vice versa. When in a locked position, the handle rests within lock housing such that the handle engages a blocker mounted within the housing. To unlock the handle, the blocker is manipulated by electronic or manual actuation such that the handle is no longer constrained and can be swung away from the housing about a handle pivot.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2017Date of Patent: July 21, 2020Assignee: Hanchett Entry Systems, Inc.Inventors: Dominik Scheffler, Dewey David, Michael Allen Webb
