  • Publication number: 20180228411
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for low-cost, low-power Array Waveguide Grating (AWG)-based miniaturized Raman spectroscopy for use in non-invasive glucose monitoring systems, such as in wearable devices that require no replenishment of chemicals or enzymes. The AWG may be manufactured using VLSI processing technology, which significantly reduces manufacturing cost and replaces holographic grating as the dispersive component of light. In embodiments, the AWG is integrated with a number of PIN photodiode detectors on a substrate to further reduce cost and signal loss. In embodiments, a prism-coupling method eliminates alignment problems associated with traditional approaches that utilize fiber-coupling methods.

  • Publication number: 20130249811
Abstract: A user may control a user device utilizing visible light transmitted from a handheld control device. Upon a user actuation associated with the control device, the control device may transmit control information to one or more sensors associated with the user device. The control device may project a visual user interface on a display surface, whereby the visual user interface may represent commands and/or operations that may be performed by the user device. The user may also overlay the visual user interface, or components within the visual user interface, on the one or more sensors of the user device for transmitting a particular command to the user device. By virtue of the handheld device and the projected user interface, the user may both view operations that may be performed with respect to the user device and may also cause the user device to perform those operations.

  • Publication number: 20120242589
Abstract: A method of interacting with a first electronic device having a touch-sensitive display. The method comprises establishing a connection between the first electronic device and a second electronic device, the connection allowing data communication between the first electronic device and the second electronic device. A first event involving the first electronic device is detected and a second event involving the second electronic device is detected. It is determined if the first event and the second event relate to an interaction between the second electronic device and an element displayed on the touch-sensitive display. If the first and second events relate to an interaction between the second electronic device and an element displayed on the touch-sensitive display, operation of the first electronic device is controlled based upon one or more characteristics of the interaction.
