  • Patent number: 5304070
Abstract: A connector apparatus includes a header connector (10) of a given thickness into which an IC pack is loaded and from which it is ejected. An ejecting member (16) is mounted on the header connector (10) for ejecting the IC pack from the header connector. The ejecting member (16) is configured to lie substantially within the thickness profile of the IC pack. An actuating member (18) is provided for actuating the ejecting member (16) to eject the IC pack from the header connector. The actuating member is configured to lie substantially within the thickness profile of the header connector (FIG. 1 ).

  • Patent number: 5188534
Abstract: A surface mount electrical connector includes an insulating housing having a through receptacle, the housing being mountable to a printed circuit board. A spring contact is mounted in the receptacle of the housing and includes a contact pad at one end exposed at the bottom of the housing for surface engaging a circuit trace on the printed circuit board. A contact cusp is formed from the opposite end of the spring contact and projects from the top of the housing for engagement by a complementary contact component. A mounting post is provided intermediate the ends of the spring contact for fixing in a mounting aperture in the housing. The spring contact is a planar stamped metal component disposed in the housing with the plane of the contact generally transverse to the top and bottom of the housing. The contact cusp is preloaded within the housing.

  • Patent number: 5188535
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing having a terminal-receiving passage defining a terminal-insertion axis for receiving a mating terminal member. A stamped and formed sheet metal contact member has a contact end disposed in the passage and a terminal end projecting from the housing. The housing has top and bottom walls, with the terminal-receiving passage extending in a direction therebetween. A slot is provided in a side wall of the housing communicating with the passage. The contact end of the contact member is inserted into the slot and is generally planar and has a terminal-receiving slot. The plane of the contact end and the slot are disposed generally transverse to the terminal-insertion axis. The contact member includes an intermediate portion located adjacent the contact end to provide additional flexiblity to the contact arms at the contact end.

  • Patent number: 5076804
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly is provided for mounting on a printed circuit board which includes at least a pair of mounting post-receiving holes and at least one solder tail-receiving aperture. The assembly includes a housing having at least a pair of mounting posts for positioning in the holes in the printed circuit board. At least one contact member is mounted on the housing and includes a solder tail for positioning in the aperture in the printed circuit board. The solder tail has a generally straight side and a projecting hook on an opposite side for retaining the connector assembly on the printed circuit board. The width of the solder tail between the straight side and the outermost point of the hook on the opposite side is no greater than the width of the aperture, and the centerline of the solder tail between its sides is offset, in the direction of the hook, relative to the centerline of the aperture when the mounting posts are aligned with the holes in the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 4907990
Abstract: A high contact force, high elastic response range pin-receiving electrical contact is provided in a pin-receiving contact including a base portion and a pair of spaced apart cantilever beams which extend forwardly from the base to a pin-receiving end. A pair of inwardly directed contact surfaces are defined on each cantilever beam facing the opposed beam for slideably, electrically engaging an inserted pin terminal. In accordance with the invention, a resilient beam support member extends from and interconnects the pin-receiving ends of the cantilevered beams. The resilient beam support member provides a significantly improvement in the elastic response range of the pin-receiving contact by enabling each cantilevered beam to endure a greater outward displacement before a minimum yield in the beam occurs while providing a greater normal force against the pin.

  • Patent number: 4701829
Abstract: The present invention relates to a thermal connector for printed circuit card mounted with at least one electronic component, the card having a heat-conducting substrate. The connector has at least one wall made of a material which is a good heat conductor in direct contact with a part of the heat-conducting substrate and a means forming a heat sink integral with the wall. The invention applies in particular to electronic cabinets comprising a large number of cards.

  • Patent number: 4562632
Abstract: The device for mounting optical fibers within an attachment terminal comprises a base having a terminal-positioning V-groove for placing a terminal in a reference position and a V-groove for positioning the optical fibers. A calibrated spacer member is placed at the bottom of the fiber-positioning groove, a bearing member having a V-shaped cross-section being placed above the spacer member in order to maintain the optical fibers in position. The calibrated spacer member defines a first and a second lateral V-groove, one optical fiber being placed within each lateral V-groove. The bearing member comes into mechanical contact with the sides of the fiber-positioning groove and with the optical fibers but does not come into contact with the calibrated spacer member.
