  • Patent number: 7117195
Abstract: A method for deploying a service in a communication network by performing the steps of: invoking a service deployment engine by a request for the service, retrieval of deployment templates, retrieval of service deployment policies, determination of a current configuration of at least one network element involved in providing the service, and selection of a deployment template from the retrieved deployment templates based on the service deployment policies and configuration. Further, a method for configuring a network element via a network element controller through the intermediary of a network element proxy.

  • Patent number: 6823390
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of setting up data communication with a communication means (TERA), a first (TERA) and a second (TERB) communication means therefor, set-up program modules (PMPA and PMPB) therefor, a test means (CK) therefor and a test module (PMCK) for a test means. The first communication means (TERA) possesses at least one protocol module (P11A, P21A and BA) for data communication via at least one first layer of a communication protocol. The second communication means (TERB) sends a test means (CK) at least one target protocol property of the at least one first or one second layer of the protocol for data communication with the first communication means (TERA). The first communication means (TERA) sends the test means at least one actual protocol property of the at least one layer, able to be processed by the at least one protocol module (P11A, P21A and BA), of the protocol. The test means compares the at least one actual protocol property with the target protocol property.

  • Publication number: 20020194334
Abstract: The efficiency of processor systems—pc-modem-gateway—for allowing users contacting service systems via access systems comprising stored service system codes defining and allowing access to these service systems and comprising stored user profiles related to service system codes, can be increased by, in response to download signals, downloading service system codes from the access systems to the processor system and storing these downloaded service system codes in the processor system's memory. Then users have these service system codes available in their processor system. The storing of downloaded service system codes may be temporarily, in case of the processor system generating access signals, and the access systems in response generating download signals, or may be for a longer period, in which case both said service system codes stored in the access systems and downloaded service system codes stored in the memory should be synchronized.

  • Publication number: 20020188719
Abstract: Network elements (NE) of a telecommunications network and an application platform (SP), which provides value-added services on top of the network, communicate with each other by means of triggers (T) and handles (H). Triggers (T) are notifications containing information to be sent by a network element to the application platform (SL) upon occurrence of predefined events and handles (H) are commands to be sent by the application platform (SL) requesting execution of predefined actions at said network element (NE). A network element (NE) includes a management information base (MIB) containing managed objects, which describe variables and parameters accessible by a network management system (NMS) to control and monitor the network element (NE). In order to allow systematic interrogation of the triggers and handles interface of a network element (NE), its management information base (MIB) stores additional managed objects which describe the triggers (T) and handles (H) supported by said network element (NE).

  • Publication number: 20020103803
Abstract: The invention relates notably to a method for providing connectivity between hosts in a data communication network, at least one host, herein called semi-permanent user, being able to be connected to a Network Access Server over an access network.

  • Publication number: 20020062378
Abstract: Known systems couple terminals via network-entities (switches, bridges, routers) to an Internet/Intranet by, at said terminals, generating first codes for activating couplings from terminals via network-entities to said Internet/Intranet, and deactivate at least a part of said coupling by, at said terminals and/or at said network-entities, generating second codes, with said network-entities detecting said first and second codes. To introduce call-on-hold features and session-park features, systems according to the invention are provided with memories for storing coupling-information in relation to at least a part of said second codes, which memories generate said coupling-information in response to third codes. Preferably, second codes will comprise subcodes indicating a deactivation-type (call-on-hold or session-park), and in addition to said first and third codes, a fourth code is generated for security reasons (encryption).

  • Publication number: 20020002687
Abstract: The invention relates notably to a method for enabling a user registered in an Network Access Server as already connected to a Virtual Private Network to communicate with at least a communication device not belonging to the Virtual Private Network. The Network Access Server enables access over a data communication network to the communication device as well as to a plurality of Virtual Private Networks.
