  • Publication number: 20240059943
Abstract: Heat-curing epoxy resin compositions containing a curing agent in the form of a mixture of aromatic dicarboxylic dihydrazide with a dihydrazide chosen from the group consisting of glutaric dihydrazide, adipic dihydrazide, pimelic dihydrazide, 8,12-eicosadienedioic acid-1,20-dihydrazide and 4-isopropyl-2,5-dioxoimidazolidine-1,3-di(propionohydrazide). The epoxy resin compositions are particularly suitable for automotive body-in-white bonding, where after induction pre-curing without additional metal joining techniques the pre-cured adhesives are cured again in a further step at temperatures of around 180° C.

  • Publication number: 20240059828
Abstract: A method of producing a hem flange bond wherein the method uses a one-component thermosetting epoxy resin composition including 20-60% by weight of at least one epoxy resin A, a latent curing agent for epoxy resins B, 10-40% by weight of at least one toughness improver D, and 4-12% by weight of a room temperature solid, crystalline polyester polyol PP. This enables compositions that are suitable for spray application and are not expressed from the hem flange in the crimping operation.

  • Patent number: 11891507
Abstract: A thermosetting epoxy resin composition including, as curing agent, a dihydrazide selected from the group consisting of glutaric dihydrazide, adipic dihydrazide and pimelic dihydrazide, in combination with a specific urea accelerator, which features good storage stability and a low curing temperature. The epoxy resin composition is especially suitable for use as bodywork adhesive.

Date of Patent: February 6, 2024
    Assignee: SIKA TECHNOLOGY AG
    Inventors: Noah Munzinger, Dominique Gallo
  • Patent number: 11624013
Abstract: Methods in which toughness improvers based on terminally blocked polyurethane prepolymers are used to increase the maximum linear expansion of single component heat-curing epoxy resin compositions, in particular for joining substrates having different thermal expansion coefficients, in particular in the framework of transport agents or white goods.

  • Publication number: 20210163665
Abstract: A one-component thermosetting epoxy resin includes compositions that are particularly suitable for the bonding of substrates having different coefficients of thermal expansion, especially in the shell construction of modes of transport or white goods. The one-component thermosetting epoxy resin composition includes a) at least one epoxy resin A having an average of more than one epoxy group per molecule; b) at least one 2,4-diamino-1,3,5-triazine GU containing, in the 6 position, —an alkyl radical having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, in which one hydrogen atom in the ? position has been replaced by a 2,4-diamino-1,3,5-triazin-6-yl radical, a cycloalkyl radical having 5 to 12 carbon atoms or -an aryl radical having 6 to 12 carbon atoms; and c) at least one toughness improver D, which is a terminally blocked polyurethane polymer D1.
