  • Publication number: 20180030421
Abstract: The present invention relates to an original and specific mixture of purified superoxide dismutases (SODs) of plant origin, characterised in that said mixture is essentially made up of three superoxide dismutases: a manganese superoxide dismutase, a copper and zinc superoxide dismutase and an iron superoxide dismutase provided in two isoforms, which can be obtained from an extract of the hybrid variety F1 of Cucumis melo MA 7950 or the cells thereof cultured in vitro or by transfer and expression of the genes of said SODs in prokaryotic or eukaryotic cells. The specific mixture according to the invention imparts to the compositions containing same a greater effectiveness in the treatment or prevention of diseases linked to inflammatory and/or oxidative stress, such as radiation-induced fibroses, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, atherosclerosis, labial herpes and myopathies, as well as in nutritional, pharmaceutical, veterinary or cosmetic uses.

  • Patent number: 7132118
Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition comprising an active plant extract containing superoxide dismutase, said extract being coated and/or microencapsulated in a fat-soluble agent based on a fatty substance. It also relates to its method of manufacture, to the pharmaceutical, cosmetic or food compositions containing it and as a medicament, in particular, in protecting the epidermis against UV radiation and allergies.

  • Patent number: 5747043
Abstract: The subject of the present invention is a soluble Cucumis melo protein extract having a superoxide dismutase enzyme activity greater than 30 units/mg of proteins as well as, preferably, a catalase enzyme activity greater than 45 units/mg of proteins.Preferably, the protein extract according to the invention is obtained from a Cucumis melo variety obtained by genetic crossing which has a shelf life of the order of 14 days such as the 95LS444 line or one of the hybrids obtained from this line. The subject of the invention is also the use for cosmetic purposes (skin ageing, hair care), medical purposes (anticancer agents for the digestive system, antioxidant), food purposes (replacement of synthetic antioxidants) and contains, as active ingredient, an optionally purified protein extract.
