  • Patent number: 6904783
Abstract: A system and method for detecting a stuck or malfunctioning fuel tank level sensor calculates an estimated fuel tank level sensor value and compares the estimated sensor value with the actual sensor value. Upper and lower threshold values may also be determined along with the estimated value. If the actual sensor value falls outside the threshold values, the sensor is considered faulty and an error signal is set in the system. The system also compares the actual sensor value with a reference sensor value to detect whether the fault is due to a stuck sensor or due to a different type of sensor malfunction.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 23, 2003
Date of Patent: June 14, 2005
    Assignee: Siemens VDO Automotive Corporation
    Inventors: David Elenich, Dominique Salafia

  • Patent number: 6250291
Abstract: Process for controlling an internal combustion engine equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation device (5) comprising a recirculation valve (51) and a device for regulating an air/fuel mixture injected into an inlet circuit as a function of the signal (LAM_AV) of an oxygen probe (41) placed in the exhaust circuit (4), characterized in that the controls of the valve (EGR_CTRL) are synchronized with at least one transition of a correction (LAM_COR) of the richness of the mixture in order to reduce the transient pollution peaks generated by the operating of the exhaust gas recirculation valve (51).

  • Patent number: 4772804
Abstract: The process and the device enable the electrical powering of a circuit having a conductor (1) with high thermal inertia by means of a transistor (3) with low thermal inertia. According to the invention, the device comprises a current limiter circuit (4,5,7,11), a voltage detector circuit (8) and a control microprocessor (6) which, according to a pre-established program, controls the flowing and stoppage of current in the power transistor (3) controlling the powering of the conductor (1) with high thermal inertia.Application to the control of lights in automobile vehicles.
