Publication number: 20240094233Abstract: The present invention relates to methods, devices and systems for associating consumable data with an assay consumable used in a biological assay. Provided are assay systems and associated consumables, wherein the assay system adjusts one or more steps of an assay protocol based on consumable data specific for that consumable. Various types of consumable data are described, as well as methods of using such data in the conduct of an assay by an assay system. The present invention also relates to consumables (e.g., kits and reagent containers), software, data deployable bundles, computer-readable media, loading carts, instruments, systems, and methods, for performing automated biological assays.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Jacob N. Patent number: 10155348Abstract: A material preparation device is provided. The material preparation device includes a bias-ply assembly, a feedstock assembly and an application head. The bias-ply assembly is configured to pass a bias-ply backing material along a first path. The feedstock assembly is configured to pass a feedstock along a second path that crosses the first path at a select angle. The feedstock includes resin pre-impregnated fiber-reinforced material (pre-preg) having the fibers at a first orientation relative to an edge of the feedstock. The application head is configured to transfer the pre-preg from the feedstock to the bias-ply backing material at a location where the first path crosses the second path to form a bias-ply with the fibers of the pre-preg having a second, different orientation relative to an edge of the formed bias-ply.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2016Date of Patent: December 18, 2018Assignee: Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems, Inc.Inventors: Jason K. Patent number: 6854498Abstract: An edge wrap machine for applying decorative laminate to an aircraft interior panel, particularly a stowbin door, lifts the edge to be wrapped with an actuator, wraps the edge automatically by drawing a vacuum between two silicone blankets sandwiching the panel, and lowers the actuator to achieve bonding pressure on the wrapped edge. The machine automates a hand operation that is relatively slow and potentially dangerous to the workers.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2003Date of Patent: February 15, 2005Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: John D. Nemchick, Don C. Jones

Patent number: 4710031Abstract: A microtiter plate reader is disclosed which allows visual examination of the contents of the wells of a microtiter plate having an array of wells. The microtiter plate reader includes supporting means for supporting the microtiter plate with the wells opening generally upwardly and a light emitting surface is adapted to extend under a microtiter plate so held. Regions of reduced light emission on the light emitting surface are arranged in an array corresponding in relative position to a selected portion of the array of microtiter plate wells. Locator means are provided for locating the microtiter plate with respect to the array of regions of reduced light emission to allow selective alignment of the wells with the dark regions, providing a dark background to the bottom of the wells which are then illuminated indirectly. The wells can be illuminated directly when the dark regions are out of alignment with the wells.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1985Date of Patent: December 1, 1987Assignee: Lancraft, Inc.Inventors: John E.
