Patent number: 11957485Abstract: A hat (200) for a neonate (120) comprising: a central portion (201), a first side portion (202) and second side portion (203) attached to opposite sides of the central portion (201), a first fastener (208); a top flap (204) and a second fastener (211). The hat (200) has an unfolded configuration and a worn configuration. In the unfolded configuration the first and second portions (202, 203) extend away from each other from the central portion (201) in opposite directions. In the worn configuration the hat (200) wraps a neonate's head with the central portion (201) in contact with the back of the neonate's head, the first portion (202) wrapped around a first side of the neonate's head and the second portion (203) wrapped around a second side of the neonate's head.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2017Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignees: SUREPULSE MEDICAL LIMITED, THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAMInventors: James Carpenter, Barrie Hayes-Gill, Caroline Henry, Don Sharkey, Lara Shipley

Patent number: 10742173Abstract: Power amplifiers, amplifier systems, and related methods are disclosed herein. In one example embodiment, the amplifier system includes a bias controller that enables fast switching between an on state bias voltage and an off state bias voltage for the power amplifier. The bias controller can transition a low impedance switch to an on state to electrically couple a first electrode of a charge holding capacitor to an input of the power amplifier. The charge holding capacitor can be pre charged with the on state bias voltage to quickly provide the on state bias voltage to the power amplifier. The bias controller can also transition the low impedance switch to an off state to couple the input of the power amplifier to the off state bias voltage.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2018Date of Patent: August 11, 2020Assignee: NXP USA, Inc.Inventors: Elie Maalouf, Joseph Staudinger, Don Hayes

Patent number: 10608595Abstract: Power amplifiers, amplifier systems, and related methods are disclosed herein. In one example embodiment, the amplifier system includes a bias controller that automatically sets a bias voltage of a power amplifier device by monitoring a reference device that is in a scaled relationship with the power amplifier device, and integrally is formed with the power amplifier device on a same semiconductor die. The bias controller can compare a voltage at an input to the reference device to a reference voltage, and then adjust a voltage at a control input of the reference device to a stabilized voltage that induces the reference device to drive the voltage at the input to the reference device equal to the reference voltage. Finally, the bias controller can transform, based on the scaled relationship, the stabilized voltage into a bias voltage applied to a control input of the power amplifier device.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2018Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Assignee: NXP USA, Inc.Inventors: Elie Maalouf, Joseph Staudinger, Don Hayes

Publication number: 20090065012Abstract: Cigarettes are manufactured using modified automated cigarette making apparatus. Those cigarettes possess smokable rods having paper wrapping materials having additive materials applied thereto as patterns. The additive material can be applied as a coating formulation in an off-line manner to a continuous paper sheet web that is later used for cigarette manufacture. The additive material can be applied as a coating formulation in an on-line manner to continuous paper web moving through an operating cigarette making machine. The coating formulation is applied to the paper web using roll applicator techniques, ink jet printing techniques or electrostatic precipitation techniques. Liquid coating formulation are curable, and are virtually absent of solvent or liquid carrier. Radiation, such as ultraviolet or electron beam radiation, is used to solidify and fix polymerizable liquid components of the coating formulation that have been applied to the paper web.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 4, 2008Publication date: March 12, 2009Inventors: Pankaj Patel, Charles Ray Ashcraft, John Joseph Tomel, JR., Gregory Alan Holmes, Vernon Brent Barnes, Lloyd Harmon Hancock, James Herbert Ellis, JR., James Ray Hutchens, Gregory Scott Pierce, Don Hayes White

Patent number: 7237559Abstract: Smokable rods of cigarettes are manufactured using wrapping materials that incorporate at least one fibrous material (e.g., flax fibers, hardwood pulp fibers and/or softwood pulp fibers) at least one filler material (e.g., calcium carbonate in particulate form). The wrapping materials possess multi-layer coatings. The wrapping materials possess coatings in the form of series of spaced apart bands, each band possessing a series of layers. At least one of the coating layers can have a filler material dispersed or suspended within a film-forming material of that layer. For a representative wrapping material, a pattern of applied to the wire side major surface of the wrapping material substrate as a plurality of layers, and at least one of the layers includes ethylcellulose and calcium carbonate. For that layer, the calcium carbonate is present in an amount greater than the ethylcellulose, on a weight basis.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2003Date of Patent: July 3, 2007Assignee: R.J.
