Patent number: 11981393Abstract: A pump-action mobility and exercise device may include a pumping arm attached to a foot slide. As the pumping arm is actuated, the foot slide moves forward and rearward in response to the pumping action. The foot slide can also be moved by a user's foot movement. The foot slide may be connected to a drive mechanism that selectively engages a chain or belt that loops around a drive wheel arranged on an axle of the vehicle. When the drive mechanism catches and moves the belt or chain in a forward direction, the axle rotates in a forward direction to drive the vehicle forward. A reverse mechanism may also be provided that selectively causes the drive mechanism to catch and drive the belt or chain in an opposite direction.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2023Date of Patent: May 14, 2024Inventor: Micheal Don Jones

Publication number: 20240115442Abstract: A pump-action wheelchair includes one or more pumping arm(s). A driving wheel is arranged on each side of the wheelchair. The pumping arm(s) is/are connected to two driving mechanisms that are connected to driving axles for the driving wheels. A handle bar can be connected to the pumping arm. The handle bar can be lowered to permit an operator to more easily climb into the wheelchair and then raised into an operating position before performing the pumping action. Different forces can be applied by the driving mechanisms to the driving wheels in response to rotation of the handle bar to steer the wheelchair. A reverse mechanism can be provided to operate the wheel chair in reverse. A conversion kit can convert a conventional wheelchair into a pump-action wheelchair. Foot rests may be connected to the pumping arm to move forward and rearward in response to the pumping action.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2023Publication date: April 11, 2024Inventor: Micheal Don Jones

Patent number: 6170437Abstract: A variable-volume birdhouse comprises an internal nesting volume that varies in height, width and breadth to suit desired bird species. The nesting volume maintains a generally cubicle interior shape. A plurality of generally orthogonal, intersecting plywood panels form the enclosure. The base panel supports a pair of spaced-apart, side panels that removably mount an upper roof panel. A perpendicular back panel extends between the side panels in spaced relation relative to a front door panel that is hinged to the enclosure for easy user access. Hooks projecting from the panels are received within suitable slits in adjacent panels to lock them together. An internal, vertical partition is slidably fitted within selected grooves in the base and rear panels to establish internal width. An appropriately-sized shelf is fitted between the partition and the right side panel. The nesting volume rear is bounded by an appropriately dimensioned rear wall.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1999Date of Patent: January 9, 2001Assignee: Cornerstone Financial ManagementInventor: James Don Jones
