  • Patent number: 4244556
Abstract: Valves, in the nature of sink faucets, sill cocks, boiler drains and the like are disclosed, which embody features such as enlarged flow chambers, dams, and outflow passageways or channels designed collectively to substantially decrease the turbulence of water flow and effect improved characteristics in the type of fluid discharge, control turbulence of flow and flow direction, produce a softer controlled flow pattern, retard or decrease the Venturi action created by the fluid velocity, and dispense with the need for aerators.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 18, 1978
Date of Patent: January 13, 1981
    Assignee: U-Brand Corporation
    Inventor: Don R. Miller
  • Patent number: 4230301
Abstract: A straight compression valve is disclosed in which shutoff of flow of fluid is effected between surfaces of plastic material, but in which a washer of non-metallic material may be employed under certain conditions. When the washer is not used, the design of the sealing surfaces is such as to obtain a highly effective shutoff with a minimum of closing pressure, while avoiding breakage of parts of the valve adjacent the sealing surfaces. Means are provided for controlling the movement of the valve bonnet to prevent breakage thereof and other parts during such movement. The valve body is provided with flats or flat surfaces which are so disposed or positioned in relation to the valve as a whole as to enable the valve to be clamped in a vise for facilitating access to the stem and other parts of the valve. The use of packing glands is avoided through the use of an O-ring and its structural location in the valve.

  • Patent number: 4225115
Abstract: A gate valve is disclosed in which a plastic molded gate is utilized, having sealing beads molded integrally with the gate to produce a fluid-tight seal between the gate and the body of the gate valve. A unique molding method is employed, wherein the core part of the mold which establishes the valve chamber in the valve body can be released or withdrawn from the plastic parts without tearing or otherwise mutilating the sealing beads, and wherein a separate two-piece mold is employed for molding the gate, and in which the gate molding parts are utilized to provide sealing beads on the gate.
