  • Publication number: 20120113810
Abstract: A method for toll-based routing is described. A routing table that associates a cost and a quality factor with each destination in a network is built. One or more data packets are received. A neighboring node to send the one or more data packets is selected based on the routing table and user preferences of an originator or intended receiver of the one or more data packets. The one or more data packets are sent to the selected neighboring node. A routing report that indicates routing of the one or more data packets is sent to a toll service.

  • Publication number: 20080092138
Abstract: An apparatus, program product and method in which application program-specified resource allocation and allocation strength preferences are used to allocate hardware resources from a computer for that application program. The resource allocation preference is used to allocate hardware resources for the application program, while the allocation strength preference is used to determine whether to allocate alternate hardware resources when the resource allocation preference specified by the application program cannot be met.

  • Publication number: 20070167918
Abstract: A device for making an incision in the tympanic membrane, withdrawing fluid from the tympanic cavity and administering a medicament to the space behind the tympanic membrane is provided. The device has a barrel-shaped casing (1) having a rotatable end turret (38). A first trigger (2) allows a shaft (18) to pierce the tympanic membrane and a tubular vacuum cartridge (32). The cartridge allows aspiration of fluid. A second trigger (4) causes medicament (34) to be released into the space behind the tympanic membrane.

  • Publication number: 20060119323
Abstract: A passive, inexpensive, and simple temperature responsive charging control circuit (10) which permits maximum charging of a rechargeable battery (14) while preventing overheating of the battery. The charging control circuit is configured for use with a solar collector (12) that charges the battery and comprises a thermistor (50) interposed between the solar collector and the rechargeable battery. The thermistor exhibits low resistance when it is cool to provide nearly unrestricted charging of the battery and then progressively increases in resistance as it heats up to restrict the amount of battery charging. This provides maximum battery charging in the morning and other cool conditions while preventing overheating and resultant battery damage as ambient temperatures and/or internally-generated heat increases from a high charging rate.

  • Publication number: 20050210470
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus, method, and program product that enables distribution of operating system resources on a nodal basis in the same proportions as the expected system workload. The preferred embodiment of the present invention accomplishes this by assigning various types of weights to each node to represent their proportion of the overall balance within the system. Target Weights represent the desired distribution of the workload based on the existing proportions of processor and memory resources on each node. The actual workload balance on the system is represented by Current Weights, which the operating system strives to keep as close to the Target Weights as possible, on an ongoing basis. When the system is started, operating system services distribute their resources nodally in the same proportions as the Target Weights, and can request to be notified if the Target Weights ever change.

  • Publication number: 20050210469
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus, method, and program product for observing the nodal workload balance of the system on an ongoing basis, and for dynamically changing the preferred nodes of existing threads in order to improve nodal balance. Workload balance is ascertained on a nodal basis and then thread-based workload information is collected. If the detected imbalance persists, the thread-based information is used to change the assignment of preferred nodes to threads to improve nodal workload balance.

  • Patent number: 6202359
Abstract: A storage system for a building such as a house. Specially sized containers are kept in the unused space under the raised floor of a building. An opening in the floor provides access, and is closeable by a cover. A translation means supports the containers, and moves them from exactly under the opening to a space for stowage. The preferred translation means includes a rail system supporting a train of serially coupled wagons. Each wagon has a guard sized to receive matingly one container. The train is moveable to align one of the wagons with the floor opening, for access of its container. A dust cover protects the contents. Being transparent, the cover allows quick inspection of the contents. A jack includes moving arms that push the container upwards through an opening in the wagon, and then also through the floor opening. The rail system includes rails that are closed loop, and are either attached to the underside of the floor, or supported by the grade.

  • Patent number: 5456651
Abstract: An automatic bag folding apparatus is disclosed for folding vehicular air bags. The bag folding apparatus includes a base, a holding fixture, an end fold assembly, and a tuck assembly. The air bag folded by the apparatus may be coupled to a reaction plate with a center portion of the air bag overlying the reaction plate and parameters of the center portion defined by the reaction plate. The air bag further includes side folds and a first end adjacent the center portion. The holding fixture receives the reaction plate, thereby securing the center portion of the air bag. The end fold assembly is carried by the base, and has an end fold blade movable between a support position spaced from the holding fixture for supporting the first end of the air bag, and a fold position adjacent the holding fixture for folding the first end to form an end fold. The tuck assembly is carried by the base for forming an end tuck in the end fold.

  • Patent number: 5121924
Abstract: A device to improve one's golf swing made of hook and loop engageable material. The hook material is fabricated into a club face cover preferably highlighting the sweet spot on the golf club. The design is fabricated from many separate pieces held together with double back adhesive tape filament holding the design together on one side and adhering to the wood or iron club face on the other side. The loop material is wrapped around a low mass soft sponge ball and is attached to a foot commonly known as a tee forming the target. When the club face cover hits the target, the nature of the hook and loop material causes the target to engage the club face's loops thus marking the spot the target engaged the club and showing the manner in which the target was hit as the target temporarily changes its shape.
