  • Patent number: 5560551
Abstract: A high speed skip hoist handles heavy payloads, such as bulk solids, and includes a bucket for handling the bulk material and a control system which regulates the acceleration and deceleration of the payload as it moves between a first position to a second position through substantially pure rotational motion. The control system may utilize hydraulic cylinders to move the payload through its substantially rotational motion and pumps for controlling the amount of hydraulic fluid being pumped to the hydraulic cylinder to control acceleration and deceleration of the payload as it moves between the first and second position.

  • Patent number: 5234094
Abstract: A flexible feeder conveyor system for removing material from a stockpile and transporting the removed material to a fixed conveyor. The system includes an underconveyor positioned below an excavator and having a loading hopper attached to its forward end to receive material and transport it beneath the excavator a rearward end of the underconveyor. A string of trailing conveyors is towed behind the underconveyor with the last trailing conveyor having its rearward end attached to a stationary terminal support positioned at the fixed conveyor. The underconveyor, the trailing conveyors, and the terminal support are connected together using transition hoppers. Each transition hopper includes an upper hopper mounted to the raised rearward end of the forward conveyor, and a lower hopper mounted to the forward end of the next rearward conveyor. The forward end of the conveyor is rollingly supported by a pair of caster wheels.

  • Patent number: 5074435
Abstract: A system for controlling the feed rate from a vibrating feeder including a device for sensing the amount of materials being discharged from the feeder, an apparatus to change the slope angle of the feeder, and a controller operatively connected to the sensing device and the slope changing apparatus to actuate the apparatus in response to changes in the weight or volume of materials being discharged from the feeder. The sensing device can be connected to a take-away conveyor unit that receives the materials being discharged from the feeder. The slope changing apparatus raises or lowers one end of the feeder to change the slope angle of the feeder while it operates.

  • Patent number: 4241837
Abstract: An articulated boom crane, constructed to allow convenient conversion to straight boom crane operation, and having a secondary boom that has adjustably extensible members supporting a boom tip assembly and that can be selectively coupled to a main boom either in an articulated crane configuration or in a straight boom crane configuration. In the disclosed embodiments, this selective coupling is effected by means of sets of attachment plates fixed to the secondary boom which allow either end portion of the boom to be attached to a pair of side plates pivotally connected to the main boom. Centering posts on the secondary boom aid in aligning the side plates and attachment plates, and tapered pins are engaged through holes in the plates, to provide their secure coupling. When the crane is in the straight boom configuration, stop plates on the side plate prevent movement of the secondary boom with respect to the main boom as a result of load forces.
