Patent number: 8312273Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for facilitating personalization of web content is provided, while protecting the privacy of the user data utilized to personalize the user's experience. A privacy vault may collect user data including user activity data, demographic data, and user interests submitted by a user. In one embodiment, the privacy vault operates on a user client device. The privacy vault sends the user data to a community vault that collects user data from multiple users. The community vault generates segment rules that whether a user belongs to a user segment, which expresses a user's interest. The segment rules are then communicated back to the privacy vault, which assigns one or more user segments to the user based on the user data available to the privacy vault and the segment rules. The privacy vault may communicate user segments to one or more content providers that supply personalized content that is selected based on the user segments provided.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2009Date of Patent: November 13, 2012Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Nir Nice, Melissa W. Patent number: 8166871Abstract: A steamer for sandwich buns, bagels, croissants, cakes, vegetables, pastas, and other foods delivers fixed amounts of water onto a hot, dry platen through a vertically-oriented water conduit which is also thermally insulated from the hot platen and made from thermally insulating materials. The vertically-oriented water conduit retains water after a water supply is shut off at the beginning or end of a steam generating cycle. Orienting the conduit vertically reduces the surface area of liquid water exposed to air. Insulating the water conduit from the hot platen reduces the rate at which water standing in the conduit evaporates. Tubes used in the water conduit are insulating and easily removed from the water conduit assembly and flexible. Minerals that precipitate out of solution and become deposited onto the flexible tube are easily removed by flexing the flexible tube.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2008Date of Patent: May 1, 2012Assignee: Prince Castle LLCInventors: Loren Veltrop, Don Van Erden, Michael M. Patent number: 8136701Abstract: A dispenser for viscous liquids effectuates sequential operations by hydrostatic pressure on an assembly of two pistons separated from each other in a cylinder by a separation spring. When the piston assembly is embedded in material to be dispensed, the space between the pistons fills with material to be dispensed. Pressuring the reservoir by squeezing it or by the addition of pressurized gas, forces the piston assembly down the cylinder at the end of which is an opening from which material in the piston assembly can escape. One of the pistons moves toward the other end by pressure from the reservoir, causing material in the piston assembly to be dispensed. The volume inside the piston assembly defines and limits the volume of material that can be dispensed.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2008Date of Patent: March 20, 2012Assignee: Prince Castle, LLCInventors: Loren Veltrop, Robert Long, Randall Scott Koplin, Kent J. Kallsen, Douglas S. Rodenkirch, Don Van Erden

Publication number: 20110283293Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamic allocation of processing resources and tasks, including multimedia tasks. Tasks are queued, available processing resources are identified, and the available processing resources are allocated among the tasks. The available processing resources are provided with functional programs corresponding to the tasks. The tasks are performed using available processing resources to produce resulting data, and the resulting data is passed to an input/output device.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2011Publication date: November 17, 2011Applicant: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.Inventors: Korbin Van Dyke, Paul Campbell, Don Van Dyke, Ali Alasti, Stephen C. Publication number: 20110271493Abstract: A strap having increased column stiffness includes a leading edge and a trailing edge forming a length of the strap, a first outer edge and second outer edge defining a width of the strap, and a first side and a second side defining a thickness of the strap. A crush region is formed in the first or second side, between and generally parallel to the first and second outer edges. The crush region is defined by a thickness that is less than the thickness of the strap adjacent to the crush region. The crush region forms a line along which a bend may be formed in the strap. The bend increases the column stiffness of the strap at least about 67 percent over that of a comparable flat strap. The bend defines an acute angle and an obtuse angle in the strap as viewed in cross-section.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2011Publication date: November 10, 2011Applicant: ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS INC.Inventors: Manuel C. Enriquez, Ronald L. Smith, Don Van Van Erden, Paulette Van Erden

Patent number: 7913318Abstract: Adjustable padding systems for garments, incorporating a pocket and a pad. The pocket is coupled to the garment and has a wide, proximal portion and a narrow, distal portion. The pad has corresponding wide and narrow portions. The narrow portion of the pad is longer than the length of the narrow portion of the pocket, but is adjustable in length. Accordingly, the location of the wide portion of the pad along the length of the garment can be adjusted by adjusting the length of the narrow portion of the pad.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2008Date of Patent: March 29, 2011Assignee: Paadz Products, Inc.Inventor: Don Van Trojen

Patent number: 7887321Abstract: A wire mesh burner plate for use in large, gas burners for large ovens is comprised of spaced-apart wire mesh plates. The spacing between the wire mesh plates defines an air/fuel mixture space. The fuel passes through the lower or first mesh, experiences a pressure drop, mixes with air and passes through a second wire mesh. The gas combusts after passing through the second wire mesh. The fine gauge of the mesh prevents combustion from flowing backwardly into the fuel/air mixture space. Several individual wire mesh burner plates can be flexibly attached to each other such that a very wide space can be covered. Thermal stresses are reduced by being distributed across multiple burners.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2010Date of Patent: February 15, 2011Assignee: Prince Castle LLCInventors: Constantin Burtea, Sanda Burtea, legal representative, Frank Anthony Agnello, Don Van Erden
