  • Patent number: 5626557
Abstract: A cloth body having a central knee hole wrapped around a patient's knee to treat knee flexion contractures. Hook and loop straps secure the cloth body to the patient's knee. Longitudinally extending pockets on opposite sides of the knee hole contain an air bladder. Inflation of the air bladder supports the patient's knee in a rigid position. End pockets integral with the cloth body and adjacent the longitudinally extending pockets enclose end portions of a support element.

  • Patent number: 5531668
Abstract: A longitudinal, substantially cylindrical shaped inflatable bladder for inserting within the palmar region of a constricted hand to extend the fingers outwardly and to promote exercise of the constricted hand. The bladder has a channel for receiving an end portion of a static hand orthosis permitting the inflatable bladder to be attached to a static hand orthosis. The bladder is further provided with a plurality of longitudinally extending partitions forming a network of connected fluid retaining pockets. The fluid retaining pockets permitting the bladder to inflate such that pressure is applied to the palmar region of the constricted hand between three natural arches of the hand promoting restoration of the concave depression of the palm and a functional position of the hand.

  • Patent number: 5514081
Abstract: A cloth body having a central elbow portion wrapped around a patient's elbow to treat elbow flexion contractures. Hook and loop material secure the cloth body to the patient's elbow. A longitudinally extending pocket contains an air bladder. Inflation of the air bladder supports the patient's elbow in a rigid position. Latitudinally extending pockets surrounding the anterior portion of the forearm and upper arm contain a flexible support element.

  • Patent number: 5056504
Abstract: An inflatable hand splint for treatment of patient with arthritic or stroke paralyzed wrists employs a pliable wrist element attached at a first end to an inflatable ball. The ball has an external air valve for attaching to a hand operated air pump. The second end of the pliable element extends downwardly along the underside of the patient's wrist and is strapped to the patient's forearm with a pair of straps engaged by hook and loop material. A front end of a hard plastic support member is inserted between the fingers and palmer portion of the patient's hand. The rear end of the support member is located below the pliable wrist element and is also strapped to the patient's forearm. The deflated ball is inserted under the patient's finger tips and inflated to move the fingers away from the palmer region.

  • Patent number: 5020515
Abstract: An inflatable hand splint for treatment of patient with arthritic or stroke paralyzed wrists employs a pliable soft vinyl two ply sheet enclosing at a first end an air bladder. The air bladder has an external air valve for attaching to a hand operated air pump. The second end of the soft sheet extends downwardly along the underside of the patient's wrist and is strapped to the patient's forearm with a pair of straps engaged by hook and loop material. A front end of a hard plastic support member is inserted between the fingers and palmer portion of the patient's hand. The rear end of the support member is located below the soft pliable sheet and is also strapped to the patient's forearm. • Patent number: 4977890
Abstract: A hand splint for treatment of arthritic or paralyzed wrists employs a bendable wrist rod covered at a rear portion with hook and loop material. The wrist rod is bent upwardly at about a fifteen degree angle just forward of a front end of a forearm support member in a corrected position. The rod is bent downwardly up to forty-five degrees from normal to accomodate a contorted wrist. The support member is attached to the rear portion of the wrist rod with hook and loop material. Hook and loop material straps retain the patient's forearm within the support member. A front end of the wrist rod is imbedded ina palmar member which is replaceable depending on the need of the patient. An easily removable nut allows the palmar member to be removed from the wrist rod.
