  • Publication number: 20100211854
Abstract: This invention relates to methods and apparatus for partitioning a data word into a protected region and an unprotected region in the link layer, forward error correction of a DVB-H module to provide unequal error protection of frames during forward error correction of the frames. IP-datagrams are encapsulated for coding after a pre-loading stage is initiated so that the reliability and importance of data in data frames corresponding to the IP-datagrams can be determined. Unequal error protection is further achieved by padding zeros in the unprotected region.

  • Publication number: 20090052543
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for redundant video coding. The apparatus includes an encoder for encoding a redundant coded picture corresponding to a source picture by selecting individual blocks in the source picture for inclusion into the redundant coded picture.

  • Publication number: 20040244030
Abstract: A system and method for a television program recording and playback system such as a Personal Video Recorder (PVR) or Digital Video Recorder (DVR) wherein the individual users and, optionally, categories of users, are established, an individual user logs in and selects a television program to be recorded. Later, after the program has been recorded, when a user logs in, a menu listing only those programs for which that user has selected for recording may be displayed in the graphical user interface (GUI). A user may also designate other users for a selected program and after that program is recorded and a designated user logs in, the list of programs includes those for which the logged in user has been designated.

  • Publication number: 20040237104
Abstract: A television recording and playback system such as a personal video recorder digitally encodes a television program in handheld format and stores it in local memory. The stored handheld format television program can be outputted from the television recording and playback system, using either wired or wireless protocols, to a handheld device such as a personal data assistant for viewing on the handheld device. Alternatively the handheld device can output the television program to a different device such as another handheld device. The selection of programs for recording in large display format, handheld format, or simultaneously in both formats, can be by using a graphical user interface generated by the television recording and playback system or by the handheld device, and preferably with an electronic program guide containing information about programs to be, and being, broadcast.

  • Patent number: 4669495
Abstract: A flow regulating cartridge assembly that can be adjusted from substantially zero flow to a predetermined maximum flow determined by the maximum size of a flow controlling orifice located within the valve assembly. The valve includes a spool slidably mounted within a step bore located in the valve body which is operative to control the fluid communication between an inlet port and a bypass port. The spool includes an adjustable orifice for adjusting a regulated fluid flow through a regulated port. The spool member threadedly carries an adjustment stem which includes a tapered end that is adapted to move into and out of the orifice to adjust its effective orifice size. A coupling member including an adjustment segment extending externally of the valve body includes a coupling arrangement which allows relative axial movement between the adjustment stem and the coupling member but prevents relative rotation.
