  • Patent number: 10913067
Abstract: An electrowetting on dielectric (EWOD) device includes an EWOD device array that applies electrowetting forces and contains a non-polar fluid. A barrier droplet configuration is formed using electrowetting forces to obstruct migration of a species from a first area of the EWOD device array to a protected area of the EWOD device array. A method of operating the EWOD device includes the steps of: dispensing a source droplet into a first area of the EWOD device array, the source droplet containing a migrating species, wherein the EWOD device array includes a second area to be protected from the migrating species; and forming a barrier droplet configuration positioned between the first area and the second area of the EWOD device array that obstructs a migration pathway of the migrating species between the first area and the second area.

  • Patent number: 10754600
Abstract: Instructions to print and deliver a printed item to a destination are received by a self-navigating mobile printer that makes autonomous printing decisions. An internal controller of the mobile printer autonomously determines whether to print the printed item using an internal printer within the mobile printer or an external printer, which may print faster and at lower cost than the internal printer. A self-drive unit of the mobile printer can move the mobile printer to an external printer, based on the internal controller's determination to print the printed item using the external printer. The printed item can be automatically retrieved from an output of the external printer and fed into a storage compartment of the apparatus, using an automated retrieval feeder of the mobile printer. The mobile printer then moves to the destination using the self-drive unit under control of the internal controller to deliver the printed item.

  • Publication number: 20200204694
Abstract: A processor automatically determines the machine/job state of a document processing apparatus. The job/status data is automatically displayed on a first display portion of a multi-part screen of the document processing apparatus. A graphic item that is indicative of the machine/job state is only displayed on a second display portion of the multi-part screen of the document processing apparatus. The graphic item indicates the machine/job state of the document processing apparatus using facial expressions, engineering and/or math icons, etc.

  • Patent number: 10623596
Abstract: A document processing apparatus has a physical design element on the exterior surface. The physical design element has lighting elements adapted to change color. An app is adapted to be supplied to an external computing device. The app causes a screen of the external computing device to display an icon matching the physical design element. The app is adapted to communicate with the document processing apparatus through the external computing device. The app is adapted to simultaneously change the appearance of the icon and the physical design element during different steps of document processing operations to keep the icon matching the physical design element.

  • Patent number: 10571426
Abstract: A pixel circuit acts as a sensing element in a sensing device. The pixel circuit includes a sensing electrode, a first gate electrically connected to the sensing electrode, a second gate in electrical communication with the first gate, and a readout device that is electrically connected to the second gate. An input voltage applied to the sensing electrode is amplified between the first gate and the second gate, the amplification being measured as an output signal from the readout device to perform a sensing operation. For example, the output signal may be relatable to pH, analyte measurements, or other properties of sample liquids analyzed by the sensing device. A sensing device may include multiple pixels disposed on a substrate, each pixel including said pixel circuit. Driver circuits controlled by control electronics are configured to generate signals that selectively address the pixels and to read out voltages at the sensing electrodes.

  • Publication number: 20190009452
Abstract: A method for imparting textures of grained or woven patterns to the surfaces of thermoset articles during the formation of the article includes a platen with a texture being introduced into a mold. A thermoset material is charged into the mold. Pressure and heat are applied to bring the thermoset material into contact with the platen to impart the texture to a surface of the thermoset material. The thermoset material is allowed to cure in the mold. The thermoset article is removed from the mold with the texture. The textured article is structurally improved relative to a like article formed with a smooth or other platen texture. A system for producing the article by way of the method is also provided.
