  • Patent number: 6516615
Abstract: A system for an automobile has a compressed fuel source (14) having a first fuel pressure. An expansion device (26) is coupled to the compressed fuel source (14) and reduces the first pressure to a second pressure lower than the first pressure. The expansion device (26) generates a first quantity of work and forms a reduced pressure fuel. A chemical energy conversion engine (16) is coupled to the expansion device (26) and receives a reduced pressure fuel. The chemical energy conversion engine (16) generates a second quantity of work in response to the decompressed fuel. In one aspect of the invention, the first quantity of work and the second quantity of work may be coupled to an output shaft (20) such as the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. In another aspect of the invention, the first quantity of work may be coupled to an accessory (40) either directly or indirectly. Indirect coupling may, for example, be performed using an accessory drive belt of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 5295971
Abstract: An impact releasable pole mounted syringe is described which includes a pole member having a gripping end and a syringe attachment end. The syringe attachment end has a receptacle with an opening adapted to telescopically receive a syringe. The pole member has a flexible finger protruding past the syringe attachment end and biased radially away from the pole member. The finger has an engagement member positioned at a remote end. A syringe is provided having a plunger end and a needle end. The plunger end is adapted for telescopic insertion into the receptacle at the syringe attachment end of the pole member. The syringe has an annular collar serving as a stop to limit the telescopic insertion of the syringe into the receptacle. The syringe has an engagement channel adapted to receive the engagement member.

  • Patent number: 4112793
Abstract: A device for cutting ovals or circles in sheet material. A baseboard is secured adjustably atop a parallel pair of base channels by a combination of screws and coil springs. A base plate secured to one end of the baseboard supports (1) a pair of swivel-mounted hold-down arms and hold-down pads having swivel-mounted, spring-urged pads; (2) a tee bar with a slidably mounted scaled flat shank portion and a crossbar with a center index line; and (3) an upright frame member. The upright frame member supports a horizontal frame member extending forward over the baseboard and having a pair of spaced-apart transverse guide bars with a longitudinal opening extending in between them. A circular disc is mounted for rotation by a handle, within and tangent to the transverse guide bars, and the disc has a slot extending radially from about the center out toward the circumference of the disc.

  • Patent number: 4027396
Abstract: A marking gauge for measuring and marking desired distances on French mats. The gauge has a sheet shaped as an isosceles right triangle for alignment with a corner of a cutout area. An elongated rectangular member is secured to and overlies the sheet, having a short edge coinciding with the base of the triangle from the midpoint thereof to one 45.degree. vertex thereof and a first long side leading from the midpoint of the base through the 90.degree. vertex, bisecting it. A second long side is parallel to the first long side and extends from the 45.degree. vertex. The rectangular member provides a pocket open along each long side and closed at each end, one end being located precisely directly above the 90.degree. vertex. Inside the pocket is a removable marker scale having index markings along the first long side.

  • Patent number: 4025666
Abstract: A method for decorating the border panel or any other area of a cardboard picture mat and the product of that method. Boundary lines of ink or other material are drawn to give a desired pattern and to define design area. Then a finely divided pigmented powder is brushed into the areas which are desired to be colored. The paper surface holds only a limited amount of the powder, and excess powder is removed. The areas may be rubbed down to assure even distribution and to impart a desired brilliance or tone.

  • Patent number: 3959595
Abstract: A synchronous time division multiplex (STDM) system for sampling 1 through N digital input data signals from their respective 1 through N input channels at their respective frequencies F.sub.1 through F.sub.N for concentration and retransmission over a single output channel at a frequency F.sub.0 >.SIGMA. F.sub.n is disclosed. The data bit stream of each input channel is alternately coupled to first and second similar sections, A and B, of each input-channel-associated concentrator at fixed successive sample times T.sub.S. While the input data bits are coupled to and stored in the first section A during the sample time 1T.sub.S, the input data bits previously coupled to and stored in the second section B during the immediately previous sample time OT.sub.S are being retransmitted in their concentrated form on the output channel. On the next successive sample time 2T.sub.
