  • Patent number: 6485641
Abstract: More specifically, the present invention features an improved feeder tube for a water treatment cartridge that provides treatment by a solid compound for a slipstream of untreated water flowing through the cartridge. The feeder tube includes a first end and a second end, such that the slipstream of water generally flows into the feeder tube at the second end and out of the feeder tube at the first end. A bottom plug assembly is in operational relationship with the second end and includes a porous plug being sized and configured to provide filtration and purification for the slipstream portion of the water.

  • Patent number: 6337014
Abstract: A button for providing a physical and sealing connection between a septum and an outlet stack of a water treatment cartridge having an opening. The button includes a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a central portion which connects the first end to the second end. Located on the first end, there is a plurality of flexible locking members, configured for being inserted into the opening. To attach the button to the outlet stack, the locking members lockingly engage the outlet stack. The central portion has an annular groove provided with an O-ring. The O-ring facilitates a sealed connection between the button and the outlet stack. The button is connected to the septum by the use of either a washer and nonsolvent glue or heat staking.

  • Patent number: 6263622
Abstract: A ground anchor with a floating stabilizer consists of an elongate shaft, a screw flight coupled to the shaft at the lower end and an extension point mounted to the shaft at its lowermost point. A drive handle is provided for rotating the shaft about the axis and threading the flight into the ground. A winged stabilizer member fits over the shaft such that it floats freely of the shaft after installation to accommodate ground heave. An L-shaped mounting member is carried on a threaded rod screwed into a female thread at the top of the shaft for engaging a structure and supporting the structure relative to the ground.

  • Patent number: 5616753
Abstract: The present invention describes a method for inhibiting the polymerization of unsaturated silanes by the addition of a non-aromatic stable free radical during any of the steps of the formation of the desired silane, the purification of the desired silane, and to the desired silanes, as well as compositions of the inhibitors and the silanes. Particular classes of silanes to be inhibited include acryloxy-, methacryloxy-, and vinyl- functional silanes. The free radicals for use as inhibitors include various nitroxides. The free radicals taught herein are effective as inhibitors at elevated temperatures, for extended periods of time, and even in the absence of molecular oxygen.

  • Patent number: 5616638
Abstract: Flexible composites, such as those useful as light pipes, may be effectively cured by reactions upon copolymerized alkoxysilane functionality. Improvements in the optical properties of the uncured and cured systems are found when the alkoxysilane monomer is stabilized during preparation, storage, and copolymerization with low levels of non-aromatic stable free radicals or stable free-radical precursors, such as nitroxides.
