  • Publication number: 20120048069
Abstract: A tool may eliminate over 90%, typically over 95% of the hammering needed to open or close a hammer union. Typically, to open or close a hammer union, a worker needs to swing a heavy hammer at a small tab on the hammer union. This conventional process may result in injury to the worker. The tool of the present invention may have a tool head designed to fit onto a hammer union. A handle of the tool, extending from the tool head, may be used to provide rotational torque to the hammer union.

  • Publication number: 20100242705
Abstract: An alignment tool comprises a tongue and a handle attached to a handle stem. The tongue includes a prying tip disposed at an angle to a long axis of the handle stem. The size and shape of the prying tip are well suited for freeing a jammed string clamping plate in a double locking tremolo without causing damage to the tremolo or guitar to which the tremolo is attached. The alignment tool may be used by a person with average mechanical skills to remove or align a string clamping plate or remove a broken or worn string. Some embodiments of the invention include dimensions for preventing accidental dislocation of an alignment seat under a string clamping plate. Other embodiments of the invention comprise steps in a method for removing or aligning a string clamping plate in a double locking tremolo.

  • Patent number: 7392849
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a subsurface safety valve configured to control fluid flow through a production tubing string. In one aspect, a safety valve for deployment beneath a surface of a wellbore is provided. The valve includes a control piston and a balance piston. The valve is configured to be connected to a controller at the surface by a control line so that the control piston is actuatable between a first position and a second position in response to receiving pressurized fluid from the controller through the control line. The balance piston is configured to compensate for hydrostatic pressure in the control line. The valve may have a bore therethrough and the control piston may be configured to utilize tubing pressure within the valve bore to urge the control piston towards the second position.

  • Patent number: 7336907
Abstract: Described embodiments provide for an optical communications assembly or other optical assembly in which the post-dispersion optical signals are controlled in dispersive and non-dispersive directions. In one embodiment, the assembly includes an optical signal collimator configured to emit an optical signal based on an input communication signal. In addition, the assembly includes a dispersive device that receives the optical signal and disperses multiple wavelength channels of the optical signal in a dispersive direction. The assembly further includes a first light-directing device configured to control the dispersion of the multiple wavelength channels in the non-dispersive direction. A second light-directing device is provided to control dispersion in the dispersive direction.

  • Publication number: 20070288210
Abstract: In an embodiment, a drawing file and an interface application are activated. Geometry data is extracted from the drawing file with the interface application. In another embodiment, contents of a geometry file can be automatically read into a drawing application to create a drawing file. Contents of the geometry data file may be revised before being read. In another embodiment, a finite element model can be generated. A control file for an item to be modeled is selected. Contents of the selected control file and part geometry data files identified in the selected control file are read. A finite element model for each part is generated simultaneously from all of the part geometry data files. When more than one part geometry data files are identified in the control file, all of the finite element models of the parts can be integrated into a finite element model of a product.

  • Patent number: 7203398
Abstract: An optical module having an integral optical waveguide with waveguide ports at each end. The optical waveguide receives an input light beam through a first waveguide port. The input light beam passes through the waveguide and is emitted from the second waveguide port, where it is reflected by the reflective surface. After being reflected by the reflective surface, the input light beam can be directed onto the surface of a DMD array, where the input light beam can be selectively reflected in a particular direction. The reflective surface may also comprise a diffractive grating, thereby enabling wavelength selective switching. In addition, the reflective surface may comprise a generally concave surface that converts a diverging input light beam into a generally collimated light beam, thereby facilitating more accurate selection and switching by the DMD array.
