  • Patent number: 7993154
Abstract: An electrical terminal includes a body having a first end, a second end, and a channel having an axis. The channel extends at least through the first end toward the second end, the channel configured and disposed to receive an electrical conductor. A contact gripping element intermediate the first and second ends extends into the channel at an angle from the axis. The contact gripping element is associated with the body. The contact gripping element terminates at an end having a reduced thickness. The contact gripping element is configured to exert a contact gripping contact force on the electrical conductor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 25, 2008
Date of Patent: August 9, 2011
    Assignee: Tyco Electronics Corporation
Inventors: Donald M. Baughn, Timothy L. Kocher, David James Fabian, John Michael Landis, John Steven Wilson, Donald Alan Diemer

  • Patent number: 7604518
Abstract: An electrical contact for use with electronic devices is provided. This electrical contact includes a mating portion; a wire retaining portion; and body portion formed integrally with the wire retaining portion. The body portion further includes a central axis running lengthwise therethrough and at least one outwardly biased retention member, wherein the retention member is formed from the same material as the body portion and is integral therewith, and wherein the angle of deflection of the retention member is substantially perpendicular to the central axis of the body.

  • Publication number: 20090191769
Abstract: An electrical terminal (2) includes a body (4) having a locking member (6) and the locking member extends through an aperture (10) and backs up to the body. The locking member is configured to abut the housing, in one embodiment the locking member is disposed through the channel defined by the body while another embodiment a plurality of locking members are at least partially disposed within the channel. Preferably, the locking member is stamped out from the body. In a variation the body has a projection which can abut the housing to lock the body into the housing.
